Ok, 98.5 sorry I wasn't clear enough on that one. I would kill for a 98 12v though.

So if I go with the 99 and its a "53", should I immediately turn it down or take my chance if its going to tow less then 8K lbs?

I just want a reliable truck, that I plan to add an intake, exhaust, Lift pump reloca kit and some sort of play box, like Quadzilla XZT and of course BOOST, EGT and Fuel Pressure gauges. Along with a leveling kit. And of course give the ricers a run for it and take Furds off the line sometimes.

Maybe others can chime in here, but I feel that with the mild mods you're talking about, a "53" will be just fine. You should be able still tow way more then that. The "53" block starts to show it's weaknesses when guys have bombed the heck out of their motor.

JPR I will agree, from looking at all the 53 block issues they all came from trucks that was bombed. If he isn't going to bomb the truck, I would say go with it cause it sounds like a good truck.

Well the 1999 is gone, but the $26K 2002 is still available and I will have them down to 20K by the time its deal time, calling them tomorrow to start the deal. Just gave the truck info to my finance company so waiting to hear from them as well. Dam this is hard, not many 2500 or 3500 6 speeds around for the price I want to pay and when I find it, its gone before I can even move on it. My wife wants me to go back to a Silverado, but I can't find that for the price I want either besides I told her that a true diesel is in-line.

Keep you guys updated, thanks for all the info!

Good luck brother, don't them SOBs cheat you on that price. I still think they are nuts for a price that high, but oh well they gotta rob someone right?
