12 Valve or ? Hemi ???
Hi Ya'll ; I'm Crossthread , which means if you can screw something up I'm the man for the job!!!!!! Start with I'm a long time IBEW Electrician and we are good at breaking stuff !!!!! Life Long Dodge Fan !!!! And not sure why...... but have now owned over a hundred vehicles (private) but have thinned the herd down to about 12 or so ??? must be an obsession or who knows what ta heck I was thinking??? Wish I'd kept the 57 Chev Belair. That was in the 70's......... Now I 'm debating 12 valve or Hemi ? .......... We have a nice 79 Warlock 4 wheel drive 4 speed that needs engine replaced and don't have original 360 V8 (some wiseguy put 318 in it) We have a 440 but iffy about what to do ??? I'd like to see a 12 valve Cummins in it ? A 426 Hemi would also make a collector truck a show piece and it's all out there if look deep enough??? Give me input on your ideas about what you all would do with my project ???? All ideas are 100% welcomed and everyone has my biggest Thank You For Your Time !!!!! WAYNE................. Crossthread
I'm down for the 12V... You'll really be able to drive it more, its super tuneable, and parts are much easier to find than an early Hemi. Plus you'll get much better mileage, actually be able to tow with it, pull anything, roll coal, and have an engine that fits the name of the truck!
The Hemi's are awesome, and can make as much horsepower as you want, but after the supercharger and massive carbs start bucking your wallet and your sense of sanity (ever try tuning one of those things?!?), you'll wish you had the simplistic design of the Cummins.
Good luck with whatever path you choose, and put some pics of that beast up!
