dieseldavesr,
I think for industrial applications it's around 225hp and 500lb ft of torque. But for a pickup it can be tuned for higher hp/torque, just like our Cummins.

if follow up service and customer relations is as good as they offer with their cars Dodge Ford and Chevy are going down.
i bought my first Dodge in 1972, when the Japaneese (sp) offer a deisel 3/4 ton i will be the first in line if there has not been a MAJOR change in Dodge follow up service structure.

Yep, if this is true I see the small 3 will have rebates for about 10K on their trucks. Let's see how this all pans out, I seen news clips, articles on Toy doing this, something might come of it.

Wow , look at all the Dodge forum people drooling over Toyota's . Can't blame 'em . Chrysler quality has gone to the dogs . I just spent over $500 replacing the hub assembly on my 2004 duallie . Seems the front wheel bearings are sealed and it's a one piece assembly . This is after I replaced the sealed and worn out ball joints on my wife's Durango with Moog units . I'd be first in line for a Toyota or Nissan diesel duallie . I might even go with a Hino .

In the event any Dodge Execs are reading this forum take this back to your next board meeting. it's SERVICE SERVICE SERVICE QUALITY QUALITY QUALITY CUSTOMER RELATIONS CUSTOMER RELATIONS CUSTOMER RELATIONS . Get it ???

Styling alone is not going to keep your products afloat if you don't start taking care of your customers.

I'm not going to knock Toyota but I have seen their quality slipping also. A friend had a to have the Tundra when it first came out. Over the years of ownership he made numerous trips to the dealer to have the brakes fixed (warped rotors and drums) and some of the interior pieces replaced. The fabric just didn't hold up to the constant use. Not the mention the paper thin paint and sheet metal. Couldn't lean against the bed without denting it (guess they learned that from GM). He had since traded the truck in for a Tacoma CC, and frankly, the Tacoma is a better built truck.

Around town, 13 is about right, highway milage tho is considerably better. (according to people at TUNFS). Once the lack of differential fluid was discovered, some have towed quite sucessfully at close to 9K. The truck required synthetic, but doesn't mention any other drawbacks to towing that much.

I AM SURPRISED TO HERE THE TUNDRA HAVING THOSE PROBLEMS. HOW DID THE SERVICE DEPT CARE FOR HIM? REST ASSURED IF THEY WERE EXPEIRENCING BRAKE PROBLEMS THEY ADDRESSED THE PROBLEM AT THEIR ASSEMBLY PLANTS .
AS FAR AS TOWING WITH THEM GOES THAT IS REALLY A MUTE SUBJECT UNTIL THEY OFFER A DIESEL---THEN WE'LL SEE WHERE THE BEAR SHI-- IN THE BUCKWEAT.

Herb,
I think after the 3rd time they installed updated rotors and drums. Seems to have fixed that issue. Far as I know the dealer did a good job of taking care of him.

Looks are a very important thing, as well. The Tundra's look alright, but that Titan is one ugly... thing.

No matter how powerful/well built it is, if it looks anything like the current Titan I wouldnt touch it with a 10 foot pole. The Japanese dont have much of a grip on American styling... look at the Honda Element, Ridgeline, etc

I haven't had one problem with my truck yet, nor has my dealer ever put me off. In my eyes, I have the perfect truck (well, except that its still too quiet ) . The Japanese would have to put out a product exponentially better than Dodge for me to even glance at it.

Cool, It's nice to see some folks planted in reality about Japanese quality. If this were on TDR, you guys would be killed for making the statement that Toyotas are better quality than the big three..

At any rate, I was told by a Toyota employee that he has been hearing that Toyota has killed the idea of a diesel truck. The reasoning being that Toyota thinks that diesel fuel prices will exceed gasoline prices from here on out, and the new emissions laws and L.S.D will make diesels unappealing. They instead are gonna opt for what he thought would be a 5.6L V8 hybrid. Can't say it's true, but it makes sense to me. I guess time will tell.

could be but i think they have better marketing stratagy than that. Most folks who want deisels want them for torque and the ability to tow. fuel cost differences between deisel and gas are not a variable in their choice .
