It was in Bridgeport, CA back in the '70s that I was first shocked by gasoline over 50¢/gallon. It was like 35¢ everywhere else.
Guess the place must lead the nation. Got to admit they are in the middle of nowhere though and can charge whatever they want.

When gas was around $2.20 there is 1 station by my deer lease (only station within 20 miles) was selling gas around $4.00. So that station in CA must have been in the middle of nowhere and your a complete idiot if you fill up there.

Don't panic, diesel will be at $2.99 by March. The recent run-up in oil is
only due to market speculation(I will pay $91 dollars a barrel because I believe
I can sell it to someone else at $92 dollars a barrel) There are no physical
forces that are driving these price increases(Refinery fires,Hurricanes, etc)
When the market feels that the top has been reached, the profit takers will begin selling and prices will drop (although not as fast as they rose ) All it
will take is a mild winter in the mid-west , a slight slow-down in the Chinese
economy , or a mild recession in the good ole USA. I always have to laugh
when someone says they have to sell their truck because of high diesel prices. The overall increase in diesel works out to the price of a "Happy meal"
per week.

It has been about $3.80 at most places here for about the last month. I am getting it cheap at $3.63. To add insult to injury everytime I decide I will fill up on my way home that night the price jumps 10 to 12 cents a gallon before I get there.

$2.96 in Anchorage Alaska not to bad up here. Guess we could all live in Europe at 2.05 a liter and 3.78 liters to a gallon. The big difference in Europe is that diesel is way cheaper than gas (2.90 a liter) Diesel should be cheaper than gas less processing and additives.

Yes i can verify that is £1 per litre, thats $2 per litre here in the UK, that means that 4.45ltr to the Imperial gallon, think you can work it out for yourself..
But fuel has always been very expensive here in the UK compared to the US,( think your playing catch up ) but it is only in the last few years that diesel has been more expensive than gas, by about 5 pence UK a litre. This is due to supply and demand.
The British Government pushed for companies and private individuals to switch to deisel, because of fuel ecconomy, so many people switched, because deisels got much faster and quieter and more refined, so that instead of approx 25% of new cars etc sold 10 years ago, the figure now in the UK is something like 50% of all new cars etc are deisel.
Deisel is still a bit cheaper than gas on mainland Europe, but not much, only a few cents in it now, but it is still much cheaper than the UK pump prices, because the Europeans embraced diesel long before we in the UK did.
