WMO, cold temps and fuel gelling
I gelled/plugged up with 70% wmo at 25*f- I might have been due for a filter change and just overdid it tho. I ran straight #2 this week to Seattle and back- it was 18 below when we left and I didn't want to strand the family
Please Explain
I'm Fairly New To Diesels And Im Aware Of Anti Gels And Diesel Fuel Treatments But I Would Like To Know More About Whats Being Called Wmo. Can Some One Explain About Mixing Gas And Diesel And What Benifits You Get From Doing This. Im A Hot Shot Driver Out Of Okc And Have To Travel To Colder States Freq. Does This Help With Geling? What About An Increase In Power?

I do not run WMO in my dodge, I do cut the fuel in the winter with up to 30% gasoline. I have done this for years with no problem. The nay sayers will say it does more harm than good. I guess it is a decision you will have to make.

I am running about 40% WMO and all I add is PS silver and #2. I added gasoline on my first mixture and it smoked pretty bad. The truck runs much quieter and cheaper. I am over 3K miles running on this mixture. I use a FASS with a 1 micron filter and the oil is filtered through a spin on filter when it is pumped. I let it settle and then pump about 30-40 gallons into a 90 gallon in bed tank and fill the rest with #2 plus a can of PS silver. Smoke is a little heavier than usual at idle but overall it is running pretty well and I am happy with the setup. I am also at Smarty TNT/R #3 and about 1/4- 1/3 turn on my MP-8...so that may answer for the extra smoke at idle too.
The Obvious Is That It Is Cheaper Than Buying Additive, Does Wmo Just Lube Better, Will Gas Cause Alot Of Damage To Injectors. My Truck Is Primarily For Hot Shot Work And Good Gas Mileage Is Something I Need So What Can I Expect, I'm Getting About 16 Miles Per Right Know,

WMO lubes much better and makes the engine run much quieter. The gasoline is not needed unless you are in extreme cold temps as far as I am concerned. I do get lower mileage but the overall cost is almost half of what you pay at the pump so a mile or two less per gallon is not too noticable. I just added larger tires to my truck as well and that may be contributing to the lower mileage I get. I used to get about 15-16 towing and now with the bigger tires and WMO I get 13-14 towing. It is an 04 305/555 motor with no cat (from the factory like that).
gasoline will pre-ignite and has less lubricating value so it could be dangerous. With all the oil in the mix, who knows. Really with diesel you want the ignition temperature close to spec. for the lubrication value you can add something to help with. If you can test your mixture somehow to verify flash point, youd have a better way to tell if its safe.
pre-ignition can pop gaskets and damage crank bearings

1-10% RUG has been used for years by truckers to cut or prevent waxing, I've used it & done well so far 30 years & counting.
