Diesel is below $2.50 a gallon in some parts of Houston.

Colorado guys: Just paid 2.75 at Flying J in Aurora. Unleaded was 2.74. Can't wait for it to flip back when diesel was .20/.40 cents less than gas!

Yeah!

Diesel didn't flip over gasoline until I bought my new truck!

We'll probably never see diesel significantly lower than gas.

I remember about 7-8 years ago, unleaded was $.77 a gallon for about 3 days...

Then about 2 years ago, $1.50 seemed outrageous.

Well, since you put it that way, (" ") -
I'd wager that many of us would be fascinated to hear you expound upon this theory you've proferred...

When gasoline goes up, people complain, news reporters interview Joe/Jane Citizen whining while filling up that Hummer.......price comes down.

When diesel fuel goes up........average Joe/Jane couldn't care less because it doesn't directly affect THEM.....Trucking companies add fuel surcharges to offset the increase.....you and I keep paying higher fuel costs......Price stays up.

Remember when diesel was 20 - 30 cents CHEAPER than gasoline after the winter heating season?

A little of both.
Diesel used to be considered junk fuel and therefore was sold for little of nothing.
(I can remember $0.12 per gallon)
Now that it's much more widely used in passenger vehicles as well as trains freight trucks and buses AND the oil companies have already tested the waters by keeping the price higher with no real ill affect towards sales I can't see them reducing their profits just for us diesel pushers.
Oh and what Shovelhead said!

Yes - that's the spirit!

Now, what do you think changed between then (20-30 cents CHEAPER) and now? Historically, hasn't diesel typically been cheaper and more economical?
Exactly!...

What is the new paradigm?

Do you believe that the average voter (en masse, of course) wields as much political clout (notice I didn't say elective power) as the various PACs and lobbys of industry and corporate America? Are gasoline prices that heavily influenced by (perceived) public opinion?
