trying to take the guess work out of WMO

so im really trying to think of ways to save a buck and keep the old girl running strong so what better way then WMO. ive researched it before and have some of the answers i need, but i still have un answered questions as far as the filtering process goes. i really dont want/ have room for an elaborate filtering machine but this is what iwas thinking as far as my process to filter it, let me know if its an adiquite way to go about it. i was just going to get 1 micron bag filters from grainger and put them over a 55 gallon drum somehow, then pour the WMO from whatever container it is in through the filter thus having filtered ready to go fuel in the drum. would this work ok? and could i use different kinds of oil from different apps and mix them all in the same drum? like 5w 30 10w30 and 15w40? and i know to stay away from synthetics.

Take a look at this site, so you can try it cheap without buying a bulk supply.

what you are planning should work- it will be slow tho. I have more time than money, so I don't mind slow filtering myself...

mcmaster.com also sells bag filters.

if you can figure out a way to heat the oil first, it'll filter faster. also most filter require many passes to filter to their rating. you might need an oil pump. then what about using your bag filter as a first stage then fuel filters for recirculating filtering

do you ever wonder about the pollution that using WMO causes? just curious..
what about working out the cost per gallon?

I had a couple of Frantz filters in the barn. So I found a 55 gal barrel. Welded a street ell in the center of the bottom and came off to the side and installed a 3.4" ball valve.(this is to drain off water or anything that settles to the bottom).

On the side of the barrel, up about 4" from the bottom, I welded another 3/4" street ell. This line goes to a pump I purchased at Harbor Fgt. for about $30. The pump goes to the first Frantz filter, then to the second Frantz filter. The second filter has a line I can direct to a 5 gal container, or return back to the barrel, or pump into a vehicle.

I don't have much money tied up in my project and I get oil from friends and have access to a mechanic's waste oil tank also.

I've been experimenting with different percentages in a 6.9 Ford all summer. It'll run on 70% WMO/30% diesel in warm weather.

If you check with some salvage yards or Ebay or post on Craig's List (for wanted) you can find Frantz filters. They filter to about 1 micron
