running B100 in '02 2500
I've been running B100 for the last couple of weeks, was starting to get an itch about potential problems. The truck seems to run fine, I'm getting a little less fuel mileage ( expected ) and it is allot quieter . The fuel was 25 cents cheaper than #2, but as of the 24 th it is going to $2.90 a gallon which is 5-7 cents less than #2. Anyone have any problems they want to warm me about ?
i've been running b100 for about 5 years now. 1st in an 81 isuzu p'up, which i sort of wish i still had, and for the last 2 years in a 97 ctd. only real BD related problems i've had have been due to gelling when it gets cold, which probably isn't much of a concern for you down your way. change your fuel filter often and maybe change your oil a little more often. i've heard that BD can accelerate breakdown of cc oil, but not sure if it's true or not. could try running syn. i'm switching to amsoil next oil change. also, don't the new ctd's have a high pressure common rail inj syst? i've heard that the pressure created in those systems can have a detrimental effect on BD, but also not sure of any long term conclusions about that. i think it depends too on what type of veg/seed oil was used. either way, i'd rather run bio
ps. just saw you're already running amsoil. i've been cationed to not use anything other than syntorq in the tranny. something about corroding brass synchros? did you look into that at all with the amsoil? how do you like the stuff in general?
also, if you haven't been running on b100 for a while, i should emphasize again that you will need to change your fuel filer a couple times while you are first running b100. supposedly it removes deposits and crud left by petro

I've been running ams/oil for about three years all the way thru my truck. I've been mixing my own bio ( anywhere from 10 to 100 % ) for almost that long . I change my fuel filters about every fifteen thousand miles and almost always it seems like they are clean enough to put back in . Obviously they aren't but they are that clean. I just rolled past 98,000 miles last night and I have had so few problems with this truck I wonder if they are all going to come crashing in at the same time.
