Question: Using B10, do I need to use fuel additive?

What's the general consensus around here? I have heard Bio has good lubricating qualities, will b10 negate the need for power service?

Thanks

I think they're more worried about the plugging of fuel filters so that product they make Diesel 911 or something like that I guess is what they mean. Probably till you've ran several tanks through and there's no more chance of fuel tank/system crud getting to your truck. But once you've made the switch and changed filters a couple of times that danger's past. I've also heard that tank algea could be more likely should you get water fouled BD but these days that seems rare indeed (unless you have a marine application/environment) though they make a product at Power Service for that too. Good luck! Chuck

I've run a coupla tanks of B20 through mine.
I still added my Stanadyne PF, for Cetane improvement, and just for giggles.

Same here...I just filled up with my first tank of B20 thanks to a Texaco station now carrying it for same price as regular #2 Diesel (trying to make my contribution to lessen our dependence on foreign oil!). I continued with my regiment of Power Service but left out the MMO due to BioDiesel's added lubricity. My thoughts are that the PS still has some benefits over BioDiesel such as cetane improvement, plus some sort of microbial growth inhibitor as PS claims it aids in long term fuel storage.

I think I read somewhere that BioDiesel may be more prone to water absorbtion during its refining process or storage...so it may be good to use a fuel additive that either emulsifies or de-emulsifies any H2O that may find its way into the biodiesel mix. Gotta protect those injectors!
