Possible algae in my fuel

My prefilter became clogged with a black slimmy substance. Still intermittently I'm down on power. Could this be algae? Have been running PS diesel kleen since. Whats the best way to clean out the fuel system, shy of disassembleming and cleaning everything. Any good cleaners to run through it to clean it out? Thanks guys

Run some antiallgae formula thru it.(PS 911 I think). It can happen with # 2 also.

NAPA sells a Biocide that works good. I'd dose it strong at the current fuel level , then when it is down and you have a low tank, fill the tank with a good fuel-truck stop- and dose it again. Replace filter several times too.

You need a biocide if you live in a humid area like the Texas-FL-OBX. Chemicals like Diesel Kleene can only do so much. They are fine for injectors, but not much good for cleaning fuel. Call a fuel polisher to do your fuel and fuel system. Also, stop buying from whomever sold the last three batches to you. In all likelyhood, they are the one's with the contaminated fuel.

Seems like it's still too cold to be growing algae in PA.
My feeling is you have something else, like a load of bad fuel plugging things up.
