plugged up on wmo- now what?

I put in apprx. 15 gal. of filtered (10 micron sock into tote from source, 10 mic. spin-on filter into 300 gal. storage tank) and am PLUGGED UP BAD!! I changed out my filter and it ran ok for a couple miles, now she's dead in the water again.

Tank is FULLLLLL so I can't really cut it with anything, any other ideas? I put a sample in a glass jar and no water settled out. thanks- pm me if I lose this post and don't respond...

I have run waste motor oil up to 85% without a problem. Sure the filter is plugged?

yep- it would barely run, I would drain the canister and it would run allright, then get worse. I changed one filter, it ran great for a few miles, now plugged again.

my plan of attack in the am(work graveyard...) is to "peddle my stinking bike 10 miles" and change out the $filter$ again to get it home. Then I will put my suction line from my air pump into the bottom of my tank and filter the fuel/oil thru my 10 micron filter ONE MORE TIME

hope all is well tomorrow

I work the graveyard also. Im wondering if the WMO is synthetic? My truck ran bad with just a quart of the syn stuff in it.

I am going to keep an eye on this thread and see what the final problem is, I dont see how it could truly be the fuel/wmo mix causing the problem in that ratio. Not in a 12 valve anyway! BTW, I filter my WMO thru 1 micron filter socks, not sure why you are using 10 micron? Seems a little "low-tech" IMO.

Is that 15 gallons in the truck's tank or in the storage tank? Is the filter sludging up? Wonder the type of oil being used and a possibility that the detergents in the oil is cleaning up the sludge buildup in the tank.

I'm approaching 200 miles with my first batch of filtered (down to 1 micron) WMO with no issues. 2 gallons total. 50/50 mixture of Delo 400 and Mobil 1.

15 gal. in my pickup's tank. I ran b99 last year; must have put 250 gal. thru it, so the filter caught all the garbage/cleaned up my system then. I think I found the culprit this morning- ANTIFREEZE I even drained off the bottom of my source before filling my tote, but I have some in my storage tank, so this must be it.

NOW, I didn't get time for a "diesel dialasis" where I shove a 1/2" line to the bottom of my tank, suck and filter thru a water seperator/fuel filter,10 micron(goldenrod pn 585-5), but this is next.

or am I wasting my time doing this? I went from hero to zero in 8' when I screwed up my SWEET running 12v; now it pukes and sputters like a sick 6.2 chev

edit- yes, the filter on the pickup is pretty dirty, but I wouldn't call it sludge...

I read on another forum that if you use any additives containing alcohol in wmo,
it will cause the oil to glob up.
If the wmo provider is dumping antifreeze in the drum, there is no way to seperate the two.

I've never heard this before. Can you elaborate? Or provide a link?

Try filtering through a water blocking element and see if it clogs as youre filtering. sounds a lot like water to me.
Depending on where you got the oil, just about anything could be in it.

got the oil from work- 275 gal at a time and this is Cat antifreeze(red) which seems to be seperating at my glass bottom filter.

I've power service, Howes and Lucas. Some times all three at once with WMO and haven't had a problem.
