Yeah to me a "drop" would be more like $30/barrel.
By "no one" I'm guessing you mean no one in the media? Because the people sure are asking! They have us over a barrel, pun intended. It doesn't matter if they come out and say, "we're keeping prices high to rip off the American public," there's not a darn thing we can do about it.

Chipmonk, I emailed the local news networks to ask the very question you have about why per barrel price drops and no relief at pumps.....still have yet to hear from anyone. Someone said it can't change that quick in the downward direction. Ok, they sure don't have a problem changing it up. I hear on the news, record highs, next day they are all up, did it for a week in a row, went up .50 cents around here on diesel, the weekend before it was at 4.09, monday it was 4.19 and the following monday 4.69......hmmmm.
I have tried to go diesel-less, bio is upwards of $5 a gallon and now crooks are stealing waste veg so there must be someplace buying it now not to mention the $3k investment to start making it.
I still say when there was the 70's oil crunch.....should have started forecasting then. If the commodities brokers are forecasting $200 per barrel someone should have said, maybe we can build a rail system like the Japanese had/have, alternative fuels?? Don't say we did'nt have the tech, we had men on the moon it was nobody wanted to devote time and effort like what is going on now. Rail system.....oh, to expensive, if you started 38 years ago it would not be so bad. But oil has always been so cheap, peoples pockets get lined and things get burried or disappear.
I guess I can thank the ol' timey politicians from that era for this since I was but a......well, actually nothing at that time. Heck, I'd say there are some up there in DC that are still there from that time, wonder if they've grown a pair yet?
Yes, other countries are paying more for fuel/gas. England for one, but I have also heard that they have 2-3 dollars in taxes or more for health care. I was told this by my Aunt who saw it on the news one night. Then the news here locally talks to the poor gas station owner only making .06 cents per gallon and if I come along and use my credit card they can charge him up to .07 cents? They made it sound like he was loosing a penny everytime I filled up. Then in May in a weeks time diesel went from $4.19 to $4.69 around here, .50 cents in a week? I suppose they(gas stations) had just filled up with expensive stuff so they lost money there to.
I just feel like my knee high boots are'nt good enough anymore, need to order some hip waders.......

......and it's getting deeper by the hour. our own countries energy secretary has been testifying that this whole mess is simply supply and demand, with no wrongdoing by the oil companies or the speculators! if this is how it's gonna be, i say treat fuel like a utility- my electric bill has never been lower.
