Mapquest.com Gas Prices (Diesel too)

http://gasprices.mapquest.com/
Anyone using this? I was amazed at the range of diesel prices in my area $3.96 - $4.60! I think I might drive an extra 2.4 miles to save 64 cents a gallon. My question is, how does this sight work? All the other fuel price sites employ spotters that scope out the prices for them but I don't see the imput on this one. Are they downloading info from Gasbuddy.com?

Thumbs up

awesome site, thanks for the link! I saved it in my favorites already and found a place 12 miles away that has #2 about 50 cents cheaper than anywhere i've seen!

Don't know how they're doing it but the prices are right on.
Even the outrageous diesel price of $3.29 down at the middle of nowhere mom and pop owned station near me is correct.
If I drive 12 miles out to the main US highway prices are all correct at $2.99 in both directions for fifty miles.

Talk about being tapped in. A couple weeks ago this site was showing the price at a local Kangaroo station but when I got down there the big 4 story sign was showing 20 cents higher. Pulled up to the pump and the site was right and their sign was wrong!

i beleive they use a company that gets its prices based on c.c. purchases. so when somebody uses their c.c. to buy some fuel you will get an updated price

Not all that great of a price list as it will not show lower prices in my town at places like Murphy USA, it wants to show higher prices 27 to 43 miles away. My self I'll stay with gasbuddy.com/
