leery to try biodiesel

There is a guy near me that makes and sells biodiesel. Im a little leery of putting it in my truck though. Is there anything that i should watch for or is it probably safe? I dont want to mess anything up by trying it... What would you do?

Try running it at about a 20% Bio to 80% regular diesel mix.
That's what most of the stations carry.
Straight Bio is pretty rough for most seals and hoses in a stock system to tolerate.
I've used B20 many times.
I just wish the price here was more in line with regular diesel.

Run a lower percentage and keep a spare fuel filter handy to see how it goes.

Anyone else near you runs his stuff?
If so, ask a couple of folks to see how they like it.

well said. if others run his stuff and are pleased--no probs. then it should be ok. also, ask if he 'washes' his bio or not and for how long. the longer the wash, the more alcohol is removed. if not, it contains alcohol[most likely methanol] and then I'd be cautious. see if you can get a small sample. like a quart or so. take about 1Oz and put in something to burn it in. if it pops and and fizzles it still has alcohol or some water [ from washing] in it. if it burns like a oil lamp with a nice clean flame it should be fine
