Never thought I'd be Happy to find $2.99 gallon diesel fuel.

My favorite station in the boonies is now priced 15 cents/gal higher than the local Hess station.

Just took on $146.00 of diesel fuel between the truck @ $56.00 (already had a 1/2 tank) and the 6 five gallon fuel cans $90.00.
They need to start providing a little jar of vasoline right beside the cash registers.

Last time I filled the truck [both tanks] it was 99 cents per liter. [$350.00]
3.8 liters to a US gallon = $3.76 Cad per gallon with the exchange rate being 1 USD = 1.20 CAD that is $3.14 USD per gallon.

However, diesel is now 109.9 cents per liter or $4.18 per gallon CAD and now the exchange rate has changed 1 USD - 1.15 CAD!
Now that equates to $3.63 USD per gallon!!!! My cost to fill both tanks went up to $384.65 a jump of $34.65.

It is now cheaper for me to buy fuel in the USA again.

Diesel was ALWAYS at least a dime cheaper per liter then gas and now its the same price. I can buy new oil in the 5 gallon pails for 1/3 less then diesel now. I may just start adding some lubricity with a 10% blend of new engine oil. I wonder what weight I should use?

I've found with my gasser Jeep Liberty if the price of mid is 15¢ per gallon more than regular that I break even as far as cents per mile.
With premium the it's 20¢ a gallon more than regular.
Most often the premium price is less than 20¢ more than regular so that's what I use. Better mpgs plus the rig runs better on both mid and premium.
You just have to experiment and see what works best for you, on some rigs the difference in mpgs from low to mid to premium isn't worth it.

Unleaded DROPPED again, while deisel stayed the same....
Reg Unleaded is 2.49.... deisel still at $3.19.

I think I read a post where someone said we were subsidizing the reg gas prices.. starting to beleive that is the truth...

I can't believe the #%*@ their getting away with. Diesel fuel costs a heck of a lot less to produce as it is not nearly as refined as gasoline. That's why in the past it was always a lot cheaper. I guess now with the popularity of diesel powered pickups the oil companies have found an opportunity get even bigger profits.

It really makes one wonder though, if it costs less to produce....why does it cost more at the pumps??

ds1rider asked, "Does anyone use the midgrade?"

I do. For my lawnmower, blower, weedwhacker and chainsaw. Nothing else.

I'm glad to see that here in Stillwater, OK, that $2.99 a gallon is among the cheaper prices in the country, but it still furiates (spelling?) that unleaded is $2.59 and diesel is $.40 cents higher! I just don't get it. Quit making thirteen grades of unleaded and twelve grades of diesel and make the stuff affordable. Crap. And heating oil....what the crap does it have to do with the price of tea in China? A toads gets sucked up in a jet engine in Bangladesh and kills three people in Japan and the price of diesel shoots to the moon! As a tax payin' American I'm sick of it. Can the Government not get a handle on it? We can price cap the professional atheletes to 15 million a year but we can't price cap fuel that everyone except those pushing shopping carts down the road can't afford? What kind of bull butter is this? The turds in this town are saying that they will drop the price of gasonline when they empty their tanks and can buy more fuel for a cheaper price. They are going to "pass the saving on to us". What? Are you smokin' green paper shavings? They sure didn't hesitate to jack the price of it up when they had tanks full of fuel that cost them less when the stupid hurricane hit? Rant doesn't begin to cover how I feel about this subject. I may not know a lot about the big picture, but I can tell you how the little guys that are putting almost $100 of fuel in at a time feel about it.

Wheeew. I feel better. I think I'll go out side for a cig and calm down.
