Fuel Additive Question

Bought 2001 Ram 2500 4X4 Quad in Summer. Should I put some time of fuel additive from time to time? Seems like when it dropped below freezing the truck seemed to hesitate (possibly fuel gelling).

Thanks in advance!

you should be using a anti gel aditive in your fuel. I use it all year round to help keep the injectors clean & moisture out of the tank

I use Howes, and always add some at every fillup. Year round as well just for peace of mind.

As the country converts to ultra low diesel you should be adding a good additive to every tank. Your injectors & IP will thank you.

You can get Power service @ Wally world white bottle. Get a fuel pressure guage, and check for codes, key on, off, on off on and the Odometer should show any codes.

well the only time i additive is in the start of winter when they are in the prosses of changing over to winter fuel.. Other than that i don't run any additive the rest of the year. I got 270,000 miles on my VP. Im not sure what kind of fuel you have down there but i know i got #1 fuel were i live. I have had zero problems.

Check out Stanadyne.com and look for your closest distributor.
I used to get mine mail order too until I found out there was a diesel injection shop 5 miles away that sold it cheaper than I was buying it (not even counting the shipping).

I buy mine at a shop in Springfield, Virginia that sells the 5 gallon pail of PF for $149.00.
The "convenient" bottle size is usually more expensive.
Where are you located?

If you're using #1 you need an additive more than ever. #1 is very dry with no lubrication properties that will eventually destroy your injection pump.

Acetone reduces soot (1 oz. per 5 Gals.) any more is a waste. Lucus fuel additive and LubeMaster fuel additive. Yes, all 3 at the same time. They all help out with the crud the powers that be have reduced fuel quality to.
Two Stroke oil of some type would be a positive.
Low sulfer fuel will be a headache for all of us, wait, you will see...!
