??Boycott?? have not seen one where I'm at..still alot of trucks on the road.
People have to make a living, I doubt the paycheck is gonna be in the mailbox if they aint pulling a load? I maybe wrong, the whole boycott idea is a good one but do you think it would really work even if we could pull it off?

I think you would need to boycott Diesel for a month to make them really sweat..other then that get used to it..it's never going back down
the euros have been paying top dollar for diesel for YEARS..thats why only in the US will you seen BIG diesel guzzling trucks as peoples DD's..the euros have never had sweet trucks like our American truck and it's for a reason..nobody can afford the fuel!!!! even if it does go down it will only be a few cents then we will all be happy as a pig in you no what.....all the while we are still paying $3.80 plus a gallon..........

Well said. The boycotts and trucker strikes, while good in theory are pointless in reality. They know we need it.

Here is the thing, I have been in the trucking industry all my life and think about how much we buy is delivered by truck? If they all shut down for just 24 hours, it would put this country into a tailspin. Truck stops sell THOUSANDS of gallons a day and thing would go crazy. Owner Operators control the majority of the trucking out there. The fleets would not go for it but if the Owner operators shut down for a day or 2 then things would happen.

A diesel boycott is the same as that flook that people keep saying "don't buy gas on this day and prices will come down 40 cents."

How?

It won't work.

Boycott today, sell twice as much tomorrow. Unless you shut the trucking industry down entirely, it's just a ripple that settles out after a little bit of time. Big Oil will survive longer than an owner/operator who is the sole provider for his family.

Not saying we shouldn't do something, but I can't help but laugh at some of the ideas people have.

Better yet. You all go boycott diesel and when the demand drops (and my price per gallon), I'll go stock up.

Tuesday on my local 10:00 news (Columbus, Ohio) I saw two reports of truckers doing something. I think one was in Washington. Another I heard of a small convoy driving slow down the roads blocking traffic in protest, the news said they got tickets for impeding the flow of traffic. Thats all I have heard of.

I only have to fill up about twice a month three at the most so it is not too bad but still an extra $60-$80 a month for me. I would rather have that money for add-on's to the truck though.

I passed several trucks on Missouri highways running 45 mph. They cannot be ticketed for 45 mph in Missouri. That is the minimum speed for our interstates.

Yesterday several UPS trucks were only running between 63-65MPH along with several other trucking company trucks doing 65 MPH.

I agree, it would create a backlash of events. Example...
truckstop sells thousands of gallons/day
trucks don't run at all for one day
truckstop sells $0 of diesel, food, etc.
truckstop has surplus of diesel
fuel truck arrives next day to fill truckstop tanks...sorry, we don't have any room for our diesel fuel orderded.

I've seen hundreds of post on this and agree that if collectively people unite for a cause and be noticed, something will transpire however if you say it will not work and do nothing then you just end up w/the same results which = higher diesel prices. Wheather your independent or corp driver you have sick days to use why not let one day be it. rant done.
