Some will admit to breaking the law on a public forum, some won't.

As for being "Dipped",....You rolls the dice, you takes your chances.

We have 4 million gallon capacity of red fuel here. While taking delivery of fuel 2 months ago, I talked to the driver. He told me that DOT sometimes monitors fuel drops and during a delivery to a local power plant while two DOT were monitoring the offload, they looked over to the parking lot and saw a VW rabbit diesel. They went and dipped the rabbit and found red fuel. The owner of the rabbit was fined $2500 and the employer was also fined since it was on his property. This is a hefty price to pay for fuel. Since he was probably stealing the fuel from the plant, he was probably fired as well as fined.

Lots and lots of guys run dyed fuel around here. We have it on the farm, but its just not worth the small amount that I'd save. With what little luck I have, I'd put just a few gallons in, and get swabbed the day after. I'd like to keep my tax-exempt status on my farm...just my opinion...

It doesn't matter if the vehicle never goes on public roads.
As long as it is registered to use public roads it can't legally run red.

Yes, it looks similar and you will be questioned about it.
Other additives will color it enough to raise eyebrows, MMO for one.

Once they do the official lab test, you will be cleared though.

Sorry, MMO is Marvel Mystery Oil.

Yes, there is a chemical tracer that they do the test for if they find red in the fuel.

MMO = Marvel Mystery Oil

It has been hashed over a million times, same fuel, no road taxed paid on it. Difference is lack of taxes, and the dye.

They will send your fuel in for testing if it's any color but clear.
Some folks have mistakenly thought they could beat the system by adding used motor oil to turn red fuel black.
IRS thought of this too when they added chemical tracers.
