Can't fill the truck on one swipe

So went to fill my truck(it has been sitting most of the winter) and I was filling at the pump and the pump shut off after 6-7 minutes, Apparently you can only fill 75 dollars at a time, end up putting 120 in the truck, ughh. Love the truck though.

$75 for Mastercard
$50 for Visa
They say its a theft protection thing.

Funny how they raise the prices and limit you on how much you can spend in one swipe.

I think it depends on your location.
Mine shut off at 100.00 on my last fillup. At Walmart.

I think you're right. My Visa goes to $75 where I gas up.

Mines Mastercard.
I'm just guessing but they could be basing it on the credit limit of the card as well.
I believe my mastercard limit is 33K right now.

I thought it was the gas stations setting the limit to reduce the loss of $$ on drive off's??either way it's a hassle.

My Visa checkcard cuts off at 75$. Yeah it may be a security reason as to why it shuts off at that time but whats the point of it cutting off at 75, when you can just put the card in again and start all over. If the amount of fuel in the tank of my mom's excursion is low enough, I can't even fill it completely full because 150 bucks will only get me 36 gallons at 4.09 a pop and you can only use the card twice in 1 day at the pump. If there going to raise the price of the gal. then they need to raise the cut off too, because now I can't even fill up my 92' on one swipe, and it's only a 25 gal. tank.

I was under that impression too, cause my visa cuts off at 75 at some stations, 100 at some, 50 at some, and some just keep going.

easiest thing to do is just walk inside and ask them to start the pump (sort of like prepay, but they keep your card, or you just come back in and swipe it) then it goes till your full....I do miss the days of a one swipe fill up though.

Typically I use Pilot, They don't even have a pay at the pump option here for Diesel. But when I had my rental there was a sign posted on the pump about the $50 for my Visa and that almost filled up the F*^D Edge. Either way, when I fill up at Pilot I have to go in and leave my credit card so I can fill up.

Then I get at the Gassers getting my way. They hog the gas pump in front of the Diesel pump and there are open gas pumps down the line. I have to sit and wait for them because there are only 2 diesel pumps and they have to use the pumps next to the diesel pumps.

Okay I'm done.

nothing like the gasser, who passes by all the empty gas pumps and decides he needs to fuel up at one of the only 2 diesel pumps, then leaves his little car parked there, and spends the rest of his day shopping inside the fuel station.

Now you know how truckers feel when boys are filling their pickup trucks at the truck stops using the big truck pumps while they wait patiently...
I usually just pay the extra $.05 and go to Shell or Chevron for gas as I used to do with my Cummins Rams for diesel just to avoid the crowd at the little discount joints while Meemee goes in the store to get her dozen ho-ho's and big gulp while others wait for the pump. The aggravation isn't worth the $2 saved. That and I fill up at 1/2 a tank so's to get a little hedge against the rising price if I'm passing by and the pumps are bare.

Most of the stations in New Mexico have a $75 limit regardless of which card you use - credit or debit. I have been filling up faithfully at 1/2 tank to try to offset the daily price increases, today my local station went to $4.259/gal.

I stopped to top off my Miata the other day, it was at 3/4 tank mark, so used to when the truck is down some, stopping to top it off, I forgot about the Miata only having a 12 gal tank. I was only down 3-1/2 gals, had traveled 194.6 miles, after all the high $$ fillups with the truck, I thought something was wrong when the pump stopped at 3-1/2 gals - $11.37 - and I could not get any more gas into it.

Made me think a minute about which vehicle I should be driving more and which one less. While I can afford the fuel costs, they just seem to be totally rediculous as compared to a year ago. We are such a captive audience to the stuff going on - truly being ripped off.

I don't get it. If you swipe your card and then fill up(or try to) what's the security risk? they already have your card number.
