Biodiesel - What Modifications Have To Be Made?

The more research I do, the more I like this biodiesel. So what modifications have to be done in order to make it work on our trucks?

Absolutly nothing, just fill up and drive.

Older trucks had some problems with rubber hoses and seals, but later trucks have a different compound that isn't eaten by the bio.

what defines an older truck? I have a 2001 that im looking at running it on.

So far I cant find anything wrong with it.
1. 90 cents a gallon
2. better power
3. better mileage
4. cleaner engine

only bad thing I can see is the inital startup cost, availability of the used cooking oil(which doesnt seem to be a problem at all), and its a little bit more work.

i ran b20 biodiesel on a recent vacation towing my fifth. didn't notice any difference when running it(full tank). the dyno i installed in the driver seat told me it had more power.

Nothing more accurate then a butt-ometer

So where are you getting the biodiesel processors at? Is there any brands to stay away from or are they all the same? What about making it yourself?

i run it 100% as much as possible. no issues at all. just remember, if you make your own, TAKE YOUR TIME, follow instructions, and get good at making it. start with small batches(1quart, you don't want to end up with 20-40gal of soap.don't ask how i know).

I have low fp issues with b100 and b50 at times even after a filter change. I run b20 all the time with no issues at all.

i bought a fuelmiester kit. try their web site. biodieslsolutions.com. gives a decent idea whats involved and the how toos on proscessing. whith that said, i have found that they don't tell about how to remove water and some other tidbits of info that would have helped me. hence, i had to learn the hard way. but it is kind of fun to see for your self what works and what doesn't.
also, try pming infadel. works in the bio field if i'm not misstaken. lots of info

Older as in 1st gen's and maybe some early 2nd gen 12 valve engines, mid 90's era.

Don't confuse BioDiesel with WVO (Waste Veggie Oil) they are not the same thing.

WVO is straight vegetable oil, filtered of course, heated up and ran through the injection pump.

BioDiesel is vegetable product (vegetable oil, seaweed extracts of some kind, etc) that has gone through processing involving washing, drying, mixing with some alchohol, ethanol perhaps?, glycerin removal, and a bunch of other stuff I don't remember.

There are a lot of discussions in this section of the site discussing the two along with the other cheap fuel, old used motor oil which requires a mini refinery in your garage.
