Additives for USLD??
Alright, with this new engine rattlin' fuel out here what kind of additives is everyone using? Right now I use ATF, but I know ther's something better!
What are they???????????

Anything but ATF.
Use of ATF is leftover from the old days when the fluid was just oil.
Modern AFT is about 40% additives, most designed not to burn, that will leave engine damaging deposits.
Best thing you can use is 2% or higher biodiesel.

I run B20 Biodiesel and love it. Give up a little mileage...and a little HP.... but just to hear that smooth idle makes it worthwhile. Not to mention buying 20% less for the middle east.
If you can't get Biodiesel and have to use an oil product...at least go with 2-cycle oil. It's designed to burn
But there are excellent additives out there that work better...deposit wise. Stanadyne is probably #1, IMO.

Ask about additives, and you'll get a gazillion different answers
. I personally have used MMO for EVERY diesel I've worked with. Others have had some pretty good success with 2 cycle oil or powers service.
I haven't found anyplace selling bio around mid Louisiana recently.

Personal Observation!
At a recent N.Texas DTR Club weekend get together, at which we camped out for two nights, we got some green wood that did not want to burn well. Big Blue had changed his oil that day so we tried adding some used oil to the fire.
I was surprised at how quickly and cleanly used synthetic oil burned!
I have always thought CTD owners who add engine oil to their fuel were thinking "old school"! I still think it's a mistake, due to engine deposits, and that there are better options. But I now know why they don't experience any apparent problems. It's amazing... almost frightening... how easily that stuff will ignite!

At hotshothauling.com under drivers/opinions Tom Cobb says he gets bottles of vegetable oil at the grocery store and adds 1 qt. to 100 gallons of diesel and gets good results . He advises against using it in older engines with rubber seals . That's interesting because 1 quart per 100 gallons is only 0.25%

I heard a local saying that he filters his used engine oil and then adds it to his diesel fuel. According to him, he hasn't seen any problems after 40K of running it in his Powerjoke. Has anyone else heard of this?
That seems to be quite common. Do a search on "WMO" or "black diesel" and you will have a lot of reading.
I bought some real cheap veggie oil at Costco last week, and poured into the transfer tank- so far it's working just fine. Cenex is my primary supplier and I only use the transfer tank on long trips, outside the Cenex area. They have a soy based fuel (Fieldmaster) that's just super.

I guess it'd be fine as long as it's diluted 20-1.
