Ken, didn't have to go that extreme. The RamCharger is a 93, the engine harness and PCM I used is also a 93. 99% of the wiring matched perfect. I had to rewire the info center, and add a few wires to the 50 pin connector, one for WIF, WTStart, and Tach signal.

The 93 RC harness is very close, thus making it a simpler swap.

Everything works, even the cruise. I used the cruise vacuum canister and cable from a 94, and it plugs right in, and hooks up to the p-pump throttle bracket just like its supposed to.

Tach, no 4 pin connector, so I had to splice those in, and run the tach signal wire from the 50 pin firewall connector.

Hey Fred,

Nice job man. I remember you talking about doing a Ram Charger when I was living in Chandler back in 06. Glad to see you finally got it done (along with your garage). I will give you a buzz the next time I am in the area.

Mike

so ... how is it goin???

so Fred, now that you've got her all buttoned together and have had it running for a few months, how do you like the ol' girl.

I have to say, I'm kind of curious what kind of fuel economy you're getting outta her, just for grins.

I have got a line on a pretty darned clean (for the snow belt anyway) 93 Ramcharger up here. I think I want this to be a project vehicle for me ... swap the 12V in ... do some fab work on it, etc ...

well, I don't get to drive it too much, but so far the mileage is on par with my 93 truck, right in the 19mpg range. That's combined towing a 5500lb generator every weekend, and playing around, not really any extended highway driving.

I had a pinched fuel line at the tank(crazy design there), that was cutting power. Once I fixed that, wow, hang on, it rips pretty good now. Especially adding the HTT 62/14 and DDP3s and 4inch DP to the 4 inch exhaust already there.

Recent activity: installed Boost/Pyro/Trans on the pillar(yes, you can easily make a single and a dual pod fit). Rebuilt a posi rear I picked up from MikeThomas and installed that a few weeks ago. Replaced the front Tcase seal that was leaking. New rear drum oil seals, they were leaking. Put a better radio in it, thanks MarkRao, and installed some nice new nitrogen charged Ranch RS9000XLs.

Getting ready to make a trip in it soon, so getting all of the little things fixed.
With the power adds, its pretty sensitive to throttle position, that going over rough sections can make your foot move around and the truck jumps around too. I may redo some of the fueling to calm it down. Oh yeah, I have that Valet switch to throw on this weekend too. That may do the trick.

It is a blast to drive, and is much different than the truck in every aspect. Blip the throttle from a stop, and its through the gears and gone.

Finished a trip up to the mountains, did a little wheeling, even dropped it into 4Lo. Now I'm ready to make some changes, mainly more lift, looking to go up 2-3 inches and move up to 35's. Will keep you posted.

FYI, here's a shot of the pillar with the 3 gauges and a factory tach I picked up too. Round trip up to the mountains and back, roughly 200 miles each way, netted right at 20mpg.

More updates. Found a WARN winch bumper and a 8K winch to throw up front. Had a friend redo my doors, to get rid of the 3pt manual mirrors, and put the power mirrors on. The cab was already prewired for power mirrors. Just a matter of switching the dash panel, installing the control level, plugging it in, and hooking up the mirrors on the doors. He had to repaint the top half of the doors from the molding up.
Also found some new wheels and tires to put on the RCC, once I install the Alcan springs. The setup is on my 93 with Skyjacker 4" setup, so some trimming may be needed on the RamCharger. Those are 35" Toyo MT's on Moto Metal 955's. The wheels on the RC are the ones I was running on the truck. The springs should be here next week. Went with 3 inch lift springs, with shipping, right under $1100.

I have always loved Ramchargers (I miss my 87), but love my '01 too. Nice looking trucks. Mine was also white, with 35's. I converted my 87 from 2wd to 4wd by changing frames and drive trains from the old 79 I had. Did I already say I love Ramchargers?

Nice work!

What a project. I used to have a '89 4x4 and thought of doing this as well but it was a little too big of a project for me at the time. Man do I miss that truck....kids named it "Whitey". 19mpgs???? I was lucky to get 7 out of my 360ci. Nice truck.
