Fuel tank issues

I installed an aftermarket fuel tank behind the rear axel of my '68 F250 when the Cummins was installed. And it has been working well except that after I take it for a trip it leaks fuel when parked in the driveway. I has assumed that I had failed to property tighten the vent hoses on installation but after taking a look today they appeared to no be the problem. They were relatively dry. When I looked, the bottom of the tank was covered with fresh diesel, but the sides were dry as was the top of the tank.

One complication is that the exhaust runs so close to the the tank that it actually rubs the front corner on the passenger side. I have been assuming that part of the problem is that the tank is heating up and the fuel is being released when the tank cools off - but now I'm thinking the exhaust pipe may actually be overheating the tank and fuel is coming out while I'm driving.

This tank has a center mounted fill that comes out the top center of the tank. I fill through a door in the middle of the bed.

Anyone have any thoughts?

Peter
