2nd gen ext cab to 4 door conversion
anyone done this conversion. i love the 2nd gen but my kids barely fit in the back. i saw a pic online of one done looked awesome. someplance in ohio diesel mob or something like that.

Exactly what I've been thinking about for almost a year now. I don't have a level garage w/any room to begin or I would have already done it! Anyone over 4years old won't fit into the backseat unless they like chewing on knee caps. Think about this:
Cut the cab just before the back glass. Insert 6-8" steel, weld up and paint. Cut the frame L -or- Z shape in this same area just below and weld & bolt steel to overlap. The other mods will be to extend electrical, fuel line, driveshaft, e-brake line and the interior. You keep the suicide door and all it's structure/functionality, move the seat back and thus have a 2nd gen mega-cab! I know it can be done...I just have more projects on my plate now than I can handle.

Bayer Auto in Elrosa, MN does 'em. Trying to talk a buddy into getting his '98 QC converted to a 4 door....would like to have mine done too, but right now I'm working on stuffing a 12V into a '70 Crew Cab short box.
