You need to post up some pics, I would love to do a swap like that. What were the problems you ran into? Did the tranny bolt right up or do you need adaptors? Motor mounts? I think I may try to swap one after I get out of college and get some money saved up. I would like to have a newer more road friendly truck but like the simplicity, reliability, and lack of electrical crap on the 12v.

we kept somee of the 03 stuff like the turbo and exhust manifold had to use an altenator from a 99 still have some charging issues and a motor mount was changed the hose for radiator and power steering were a problem. we tried to use as much common rail as possible so it was a little harder but i've gon about 130 hwy miles and burned only a quarter tank. if you got the time its worth it . will post some pics as soon as i get it cleaned up

Sounds good, I'm looking forward to seeing those, I found a 03' quad cab thats got a v-8 gas in it and its very clean and only has 40k miles, best of all its fairly cheap relatively speaking, not much of a market for a 1 ton gas truck anymore. I was thinking if I could pick it up for a song I might try putting a 12v in it, I just dont know what the differences were in the 03' truck with a gas vs. a truck that had a cummins. I know I can pick up a gas truck for alot less than one thats already got a cummins and I'm just gonna pull it out anyway so why not a cheap gas motor. I'm kinda still in the research stage right now I guess.

every time I look at my '04 and my '98 parked next to eachother, I think about stuffing the 12v in the '04!
