What Cam And Pistons

I Have An 01 With Dynomite Injs.(200hp),htt-ps66ss,p7100,fire Rings High Rpm Valve Springs Stock Cam, Stock Bottom End. I Have Talked To A Few Shops About What Cam And Pistons To Run, I Still Want To Be Street Driven And Don't Want To Have To Carry Starting Fluid Everywhere I Go, But I Would Like To Run A Big Cam That Requires Cut Pistons. I Would Like Some Advice From All Of You About What I Should Run Thank You..........

i ran common rail pistons that were fly cut .100 thousandths for haisley's intermidiate cam. the 212/234 cam worked really well with the 24 valve. i spun a rod bearing and am now rebuilding the motor to see 1000 hp. i also reccomend the total seal rings. ran them with great success in the last motor. this setup with 8x16's and a 64/71 turbo ran very strong.

no i never had a starting issue. it took a while for the engine to quit white smoking and would cam alot while cold, but once warm it ran great. i never used starting fluid or anything. it is a great setup for 3500-4500 rpms

Thank you ky4wheeler for your info. I have talked to patty about her cam and also John @ Floor it about a helix, but I guess you are the only guy on these forums that has ever ran a cam and cut pistons.....Thanks again.

your your going to replace you pistons i really would recommend the hailsey's setup over the helix. you can only do so much with a cam without cutting the pistons. you just wont be able to get the valves opened as much as with a big cam and cut pistons. valve piston contact is very bad

Cutting the pistons isn't the best is my book..... Depending upon needs I have seen a lot more HP without cut pistons in a truck that is limited to below 4000 RPM. Matching the piston, compression, cam, and fuel is what makes a truck perform. Bigger isn't always better.
