Forgot to mention the purse... We're desperately trying to get it higher! We just need a little more time and some more history. Don't worry, we push that issue all the time.

I am seriously considering that. I need to get mine sorted out and try to find someone interested....might turn it into a Div 3 antique if it breaks again in S'ville. I also have a high dallar race truck that has not seen the track in two years. Both may go up for sale in exchange for another tractor and bigger trailer. Problem is getting up the nerve to sell two labors of love. The truck was three years building....but it is strictly a race truck and I would rather pull.

The same one you have. I was playing it safe. The track was like concrete and rough as all get out.

Turbos, I know what that is like... I also know slot of pullers who used to race and have now found that pulling suites them much better... Its just alotta fun... If you end of selling the two vehicles to get something else, I'm quite sure you can spend just as much time on whatever you get if you'd like... at least then maybe you can run for a check and have several more pullers with experience that will all be happy to help.. not that you'd need it... you've been able to do a whole lot more with what you've got than I ever thought possible... Look out Hot Farm boys if you get involved...

Yeah, the whole 10x factory HP seems to be a hard thing to do reliably. At about 5x it was perfectly happy...should have not gotten so stingy. I have also been considering the diesel truck class, but I think reliability will again be more of an issue than it would with say a 9-1466 IH. It is also easier to buy one of them complete and ready to run for a fair price.....looks like 12-14K will buy a good tractor with most the go fast goodies.....just a box turbo and perhaps some pump work to finish up.

I don't know how to PM but and I don't have alot of details but, It's a 1466 farm ready It'd have to have a pump, turbo and clutch. It's a 436 but that would work for a few years until the class gets really big. 5,500 would take it. and it's close. call me if you want more info...

I would have to sell something to get another project....wife would KILL me if I drug something else home

I would like to find something ready to go pulling or at least with the basics including clutch setup. Building hitch, bars, frame connectors, cage, installing clutch....etc....gets time consuming and I just dont have it right now.

Maybe I can find a puller who wants to go drag racing....truck has 9 second potential on pump gas....should NHRA certify to 7.50....I just dont have the time to get it there. It is real purdy too If I find the right buyer it should fetch enough to buy a nice puller ready to hook.

As for another red one....green would be fine, but the green paint alone is worth more than having it dipped in gold....just out of my price range.

Hey Bryan....I pulled in the dark. My truck hooked up a lot better than I expected it to with my new tire setup. I went 260' or something like that. I was doing some R & D, mainly. Tried a different launch technique and a real tall gear. Found out what I wanted to. What happened to you this time?

Wes

That type of launch and high gear is what will make it work if you can make the ponys to support it. If you watch Lynn Chupp he will ride the clutch a long ways some times if the track requires it. Most of the hot trucks can't take off in a high enough gear to get the power to the ground.....usually just spin out at the end. Rolling momentum on that sled is going to be very important to being competitive in the class. The problem with that is that you need a clutch that will not be friendly on the street. Cintered iron disc are real noisy and not really designed for street use....there may be something similiar that would let you slide it under power for a couple seconds.
