I'm just asking this out of curiousity....What are some differences in mods between trucks used for sled pulling and trucks used at the strip?

leaving this pretty open ended

sled pullers are usually standard and drag racers are usually automatic. power mods are most generally the same. bigger sticks, bigger turbo, boxes, programmers etc.

The mods are the same up to an extent; once you get to the Super Street or Modified levels you start to see a lot more differences.

Sled pullers can take 3 minutes to spool up with a monster cam and a turbo the size of a plump turkey. Drag racers usually run a more "street-able" set-up.

I think injectors and electronics/ pump mods are more-or-less the same.

One day all of the drag racers are going to run a V-8 instead of an I-6. Of course, that won't be true until somebody develops a V-8 that can out "V-8" the Cummins.

I think that sledpullers also tend to try and run more RPM's, they stay in the same gear for the entire pull so more RPM's is the only way to get more wheel speed (on a stick anyway). IMO

anything to bring the power in quicker for drag racing and keeping the power up thru the rpm band, and trying to get the maximum power at a particular RPM for pulling

Thats actually not true.
Sledpullers often try to lighten up the truck as much as a drag racer (because we want to hang all the weight we can)
Any serious 4x4 truck puller puts all the weight up front hanging...
Strategic weight stationing

Well you don't have to be serious to hang wieghts.

"Hey where did my JD suitcase wieghts go?"

Depending on the level of competition involved the mods are the close to the same. Look at Bobcat698's truck he drag races and sled pulls, both pretty successfully.

Based on whether the truck is built strictly for drag racing, or sled pulling, or is meant for both there can be an array of differences in modifications.
As stated earlier, turbo set-ups can differ due to the time required to spool, etc., etc.
The biggest difference, i think, is in the suspension set up. Like they said up front, when we sled pull weight is placed strategically where we need it...Up front. You'll also see the addition of traction/ladder bars in sled pulling trucks moreso than those at the track...and so on and so forth. Compare the big guys if you want to see cold hard differences, and similarities.
Scott Vorhees (Big Bad Dodge) along with his sponsors built a truck built to pull.
Banks built their Dakota for speed....
Then there's guys like Nick D'Amico, Tadd Layton, etc. who have built trucks more than capable of both. The proof is in the puddin' as to what the changes are with these guys.
