Recent Fastest Hand Shakers

I cant remember who John P's son is (banshee? WIGGS,jk) but it seemed like he was the fastest of the 6spds, right? Im gonna do some playin with my truck and would like some pointers from the best.

Is my nv4500 gonna keep up with the g56 of the same performance?

My 6 spd grinds a little these days ever since I ground some gears when a clutch fork popped off about a year ago. My question is if I tear up my tranny can I upgrade to a g56 or do I want to?

Without goin to a full on drag slick what type of tire should I run for drag racin? I see alot of guys running there softer a/t and mt tires but I know you gotta lose a little with those.

So the big question is what do yall think the truck is capable of if you take me out of the equation?

The only time I ever went to the track I was drivin a cavilear () and my reaction time was so bad everybody said they mustve had to tap me on the shoulder and tell me to go. So I wont be expecting much but I like to beat myself up.

Aside from traction bars and tires is there any other upgrade that would make a substantial difference to my ET? Extra terestrial? Eddie Torez? Extra ********? This dragbonics is confusing.

If you tear up that 5600, it probably will be CHEAPER to go G56. My 5600 cost 3500 just for a rebuild. And IF you screw up the case add at least another 1,000.

They don't make the 5600 anymore. New Venture is out of business. Not to mention alot of the 5 speed guys grabbed up the remaining used ones for a better swap.

some of the sled pulling guys have split the G56's case open(its aluminum I think) and went to a 5600 instead because its more durable. Not to mention that you can acutally get a short shifter for the 5600 and its unlikely that anyone will ever make a short shifter for the G56.

tristan:

You were pretty close there,.......... my Son John Jr. goes by the User Name "banshee" here on DTR and you can P.M. him for more information on his 2004 Dodge CTD CR, 4X4, 6-speed if you want to. His best time is 12.6@110 MPH and he ran that on 35" "B.F. Goodrich Radial All-Terrain KO's". His 60ft. time was 1.80 and that is with shifting a Dual-Disc Haisley Street/Drag Cltuch inside that NV-5600! Yeah,......my Son is an "anomaly!"

You asked about tires for drag racing. Last year, I went to "Toyo Proxes ST"
tires and can tell you that they work very, very well for the drag strip and grip like crazy in corners. The only drawback, is they are not a high mileage tire due to their composition and all. They are priced very reasonable too.
I only paid $114.00 a piece for the ones I bought, the size was P275/70R16.
If you go to a 17" tire, you can larger sizes, but they are higher in price.

Hope this helps you some.

Anybody have a breakdown of what years had what tranny?

Kman your not gonna break anything, just lots of hearts of them cowgirls at tha fair when you make full pulls. I suppose it all depends on the type of crowd yall git at your pulls, that might not be a good thing, I saw a pretty rough bunch at our fair last year whoa.

Thanks for the info John I may pick his brain a bit before my first launch.

Has there been any recent activity in anything in a shaker thats faster since then, im curious what the limit is?

Chackmate the short shifter will help alot becouse it takes a couple of inches out of the overall stroke required to jam them gears. I also bent mine closer to me and that helped also. On a side note though the gears themself dont engage as smoothly though.

Robins im guessing with them being swithched around so much and bolting to the same motor its probably a direct bolt in.

Im not really sure as I start in 2nd and I am in 6th when I go through the traps at almost 90 mph. Maybe someone that has 1/4 mile times will look it up. My guess that would be a high 11 or low 12.
