Racing 4WD?

Guys I got a question about the dragstrip.
It's been my understanding that ya don't run over 55-60mph when in 4-high.
All the guys at the track racing in 4 wheel drive running up 0ver a 100, have ya'll modified the transfer case for the higher speeds or is short straight bursts not that bad for them.
Does it make a big difference in reliability? Mostly looking for the daily driver race truck responses.

Your transfer case will have no problems with that. I know folks that lock their trucks in Novemeber and dont take them out again till spring

Mine's a little older than many but it seems to buck a bit at 93.xxMPH in the quarter. Kinda scary.

It's got me thinking of sticking to eighth mile tracks for racing. Love them 1.8x 60' marks.

I have hundreds of time slips with ET mph over 100mph, all ran in 4high with boosted launches. TC/Trans/Flexplate is upgraded to race levels, but the transfer case and rest of drive train is stock. Over 81k miles now with no issues.

The only negative I have ever heard about 4 hi was running on the pavement because the drive shafts are not 100% matched in rotation, so the wheels are slightly off from front to rear, dirt lets them slip a bit. 4 hi just means you can run in reg drive in 4x4, it will go as fast as you can push it with out problems as far as I know. Could be wrong about all of it but thats they way I had always understood it.

D-C out!

veryone I know kicks it out of 4 hi after 2nd gear after that your just wasting extra power turning the front axle. Seems to work for my freind who has run a 11.95

I have 246,000 miles on the stock transfer case with tons of passes on it. Most of them all in the 1.6 to 1.7 60 foot range and over 100 mph. I usually shift my truck out of 4X4 once it is in 2nd gear. That way it completely disengages when I let off and will turn off the end of the track without binding up.

Might be careful doing boosting launches w/o a billet output shaft. Hows the truck running these days?

Thanks guys. I was wondering also about kicking it out of 4wd while still under power (2nd 3rd gear), that aint bad either?
I know I need a billet output, just didn't have the extra cash on the initial build, as I understand it. Even if it does go, my only problem is getting the truck home. How much boost on launch is the breaking point on stock outputs?
Truck is running great, waiting for next upgrades.
