Pulling 4th lo, any better than second?

My truck has 4.10 gears, 33" tires & I've been pulling 2nd HI for the last 2 years [NV4500]. I am going to attempt 4th lo this year & I'm wondering if the switch will give me more wheelspeed or just drop me down to lower rpm. I dynoed 611hp/1141lbft & My truck turns 4360rpm. Here is a video of my truck, it has no trouble at all running 2nd HI. Think I will benefit from 4th low?

There's really only one way to find out and that is give it a shot. I ran your numbers through a gear ratio calculator. http://www.grimmjeeper.com/gears.html And I came up with a final gear ratio of 12.46:1 in 2nd high and 11.11 in 4th low. If you can keep the rpms the same you pick up a few mph on the wheel speed.

I have pulled in 4th low and 2nd hi with 3.73 gears and 37 inch tires. I don't think I have quite enough for 5th low.

I don't know how it is in your area but at the pulls I enter no one wants to go first. Try 5th low and take a re pull if it doesn't go well. 33" tires and 4.10's I think you can do it.

Ive ran both low 4th and hi 2nd.. It gained 500rpm jumpin down to hi 2nd. Thats with 32"tires and 4.10's. I have 5hp and 2 ftlbs on you. It will be hard to judge, but on a loose track probly if you have a tire that will bite.

Here is a run down of your mph-These are wheel speed not ground speed
HI 2nd-4360rpm=31.2mph
low 4th-4360rpm=38.3 mph,4000rpm=35.2,3800rpm=33.4,3600=31.7..

Here is hi 2nd turned 3900rpm launched at 4500

And here is a run in low 4th most rpm ever got was 3500 launched at 4500

Sounded like 2nd gear was better for you? Or was that track conditions?

I would say go for it. I think youll like it.
Another thing is my motor is just barely broke in. It has been turning more and more rpm down the track every hook this yr.
The track was better for me cause my back tires are bald.

I hope my posts have been helpful. Im not very good at putting knowledge into words.
