next big question about pulling...

i have my old 33's on some other wheels just laying in the garage...the treads is down to about 25% on them maybe less

with less tread to grab and a smaller diameter should i throw them on or should i stick with the bigger better 35's i have on the truck now.

here is a comparison
old

Those big tires will help of you can hook up and not break.
The little 33's with less tread are better for a tight track or sticky one where keeping the motor lit will help...

i guess it doesnt really matter now...my mother who knows about as much about the mechanics of a truck or sled pulling told me that i can not pull with MY truck...the one i pay for each month on my own, and have put roughly $12k worth of stuff into in order to get me to this point.

i had mentioned wanting the ladder bars to help stabilize the rear, and since i dont have them she says i cant pull. kind of embarrassing to be 21 and be told i cant pull with a truck that I 100% bought and paid for myself

What mama don't know won't hurt her. My mom told me that I had to leave my truck stock.

well mama and papa were planning to come watch at the event with my father bringing his truck an a 10k trailer "just in case" but they talked it over and said they dont want me to break my truck. they still wanna go up to watch tho, so its not like i can enter without them knowing.

well im not torturing myself by going to watch and not being able to run.

im gonna be a rebel and tell them im selling the truck and i have to de-mod it...which means pulling the tranny to take my $1800 clutch out to sell...see what they think of that.

i havent spent 2 years wrenching and $12,000 in parts, and accessories to watch other people

I agree. I guess I'm lucky that my mom barely knows what an oil filter is much less why I need a new tranny. I'd be ****** though if she told me no after all of my hard earned money was wasted for nothing. I'd say go and find another pull. Or ask them if the only reason they aren't letting you pull is because you don't have ladder bars then just wait until you get some bars built up and then go and have fun. I'd find a way to do it one way or another. But that's just me.

i had discussed my concern about not having the bars with them, now since i dont have them they think im def gonna break something, and she doesnt wanna let me use her car if i break...which i totally understand. but my theory is ill make my bed and lay in it, its a risk i take. ( i work a mile from home and i can walk if need be)

but seriously if i do break it will most likely just be a u-joint, fixed in a day. had i never mentioned the bars, they wouldnt have said a word and id be pulling this saturday night

I know the feeling. That's why I've learned to not bring up the possibilities of what could go wrong without said part but whether what the benefits would be if I had said part.

I feel your pain man, my mom told me the same thing, and I'm paying for mine all on my own. Oh well, once I get it paid off, I've already told her that I'm pulling it, and doing some work to it, she said thats fine, she just dont want me without a vehicle(even though they have a couple extra they dont drive).

One day bud, one day

My mom used be like that when I first started racin hare scrambles back when I was 15.

Really it started when I started ridin bikes when I was 8.My dad had always had one he didn't worry, if I got hurt we went to the hospital.Well after those first 6 or 7 years of just ridin and brakin stuff, I took up racin.

So on my first race the night before we checked the bike, got the truck loaded and everything.I had been tellin her and so had my dad that this wasn't a motocross race but a woods race ( hare scrambles are usally 6 to 10 mile single line tracks cut in the woods that last from 1 hour up to 2 1/2 hours). It would be a 10 mile loop, and 2 1/2 hour race and that when I took off she may not see me for a while.I don't know what she had been hearin but she wasn't hearin me and didn't think much about it.It took me about 45 minutes to make a lap and every time I came through the check point she would just look at me funny and knew she was upset.

Well after the race she like flipped out cause I was little cut up, and my bike looked a little rough from a high speed slide out but no biggie. She never told me not to race but she never wacthed me race again till I was 18.Me and some of buddies decided we were goin race a few motocross races just for the fun of it.She was like well I can see the whole race so I'll go watch you.Yeah she watched me alright, thrid lap of practice I over jumped a 30 foot double, racked myself real bad and missed the corner and flew over the berm.My man parts where hurtin, and so was right ankle and I really thought she was goin have a heart attack and I was the one hurt but she never told me I couldn't, she just didn't want to know about it.

I've broke my right collarbone, my left ankle, 3 ribs on my right side, and had 33 sticths since I've been ridin and all my dad has said is, dang I know that hurts.

I'm only 19 goin on 20 now .

first off i dont mooch off my parents, i pay to live at, even tho it is cheaper than living on my own. its just that my mom didnt want me breaking my truck and needing to borrow her car while i fix the truck. she talked to me at lunch today and told me its totally up to me but if my truck breaks then i can not use her car.

my parents dont give me anything for free, they have helped me out and ive always paid them back two-fold. i pay some of their bills at the house plus rent to help them out for letting me stay there at 21. i work around the house also, so im no spoiled kid with parents that give me anything. i bought my truck and modded it 100% on my own, last month they loaned me the money for the clutch so i could get back on the road...and ive paid them back already. next week when i get back from vacation after the saturday night pull ill be getting my traction bars built at a speed shop that sponsors my local car club.

maybe i should get some vanity plates for my truck that says "not dads"
