New Tires at the Track

Hey guys,
Quick question for y'all. Would a brand spankin' new tire have less traction than one with some miles on it? Here's what I mean. I just got a new set of tires yesterday afternoon. I want to take the truck to the track, but I'm wondering if there's a "break-in" period for the tires, the last thing I need is for me to not have enough grip at the launch.

Sorry if it sounds ignorant..I just want to confirm.

Probably has a lot to do with the type of tire/wheel combo. MT Streets won't be a problem, just heat 'em up a little.

A brand new tire would be slicker due to the mold release on the tire, but that will generally scuff off the tire after just a few miles. Launch in 4wd (if you have it) and you'll be just fine.

That's actually a pretty good idea....except for the pain in rotating them.

Unfortunately the truck is only 2WD. When I was buying it, I didn't know I was going to become a track addict (now I know for next time )

Alright, so a nice long burnout will help things out a bit. Right now if I step on it at a light, when it shifts into 2nd, the tires chirp and leave a few feet of rubber I take it that's the stuff I want to get rid of since it comes off so easily.

Sidenote: Those Revo's are some mean looking tires!

I know what you guys are saying about the slicks...but honestly...part of the fun is beating that 3200 pound 350Z following the same rules when it comes to the street radials
