Question Need Help Might Pull Tomarrow

ok i know you guys probably have answered this befor

but i want to pull and i am really thinking about doing it tomarrow

i have a big single disk in and i was wondering how to pull with it

i plan on doing this way

3rd gear low range

hold the throttle a little more than half throttle

let the clutch out while watching rear tire as soon as it starts to grab dump the clutch and hold on

or do it this way let clutch out let it grab and then hold it to the floor

any thing else?

what should i run my tst on i was thinking 6/5 and my pressure box on the middle setting?

I have pulled with single discs, but no matter what you do...you are gonna glaze the clutch somewhat. I wouldn't do it again with a single. The cost of the new clutch is usually 10 times greater than the money won for a first place pull. I pulled 286ft at Fayette county 2 years ago with a stock clutch & it cost me $1000 for a new clutch. Well...I guess the new clutch cost me $950. I won $50 for a 4th place pull that year. Just my $.02

If you watch my pull, I tried 3rd but couldn't get it moving. The clutch woulda slipped BAD if I didn't let up and try 2nd. Get some money set aside for a dual disk or just don't pull.

Just remember your gearing is different in your 1st gen... Your 3rd low is close to his 2nd high.. (he is in a 6sp 241 tcased 3rd gen.)
Jon... get the DD, and a little more smoke and hold her to the floor.. haha.. Good pull.. 1st gen's are just light.. throw some weight in...

I use Low 3rd to pull. I bring the rpms up to 2K, then let the clutch out and push the go pedal down at the same time. I have a Luks single disc organic that has held up fine. It seems to hold better now than before I burned it a little bit at the first pull.

You should be fine if you use common sense, and you know your truck pretty good.
