Looking for a mid-13 sec. quarter mile!

Hey guys, new to the board, but I've been scrolling around a whole lot over the last few weeks. I'm looking at getting a dodge QCSB 03-04 with the cummins (automatic). I'm going to be doing some pulling with it (nothing crazy), but I am selling my WRX to buy, so I'd like to make it roughly as fast as my car was (mid-13's).

I researched the quarter-mile thread, but there are some pretty big variations. Here's what I'm thinking about doing mod-wise, and tell me where you think I will be:

1. Guages (for safety)
2. Valvebody and torque converter
3. Exhaust (turboback or catback???)
4. Intake or filter
5. Programmer(s)
--------
Also, FASS and injectors if everyone seems to think they're necessary!

Suggestions and opinons are appreciated!

Talking Welcome to the DTR!!!

Go here and read around, there is sooooo much to learn. These beasts are so different from the little gasser you used to drive.

then go look up your local DTR Chapter and join. They are good guys always willing to lend a hand.
Juice w/Attitude stacked w/EZ
AFE intake
Stacks
Fass or Vulcan kit w/ Walbro pump
You'll figure it out.
good luck

WEll then you aren't too far from my house. You should have come over last Sat. WE had 14 members with 14 trucks show up. It was a good time.
Friday we are gonna put P.J's new clutch in. I'm off Good Friday. Come on over if you are off. we're gonna start early.

i know if you go with a stage 2 cp3 and tst you'll run mid to low 13's. then you stack that with an mp8 and you'll be very happy. don't know if just a valve body and convertor will be sufficeint as far as tranny goes though. it'll take a 4wd launch to run the time i said, and the stock input won't hold that kind of power and launch.

No charger upgrade, no intake, no exhaust, no pusher pump, nothing but a Stage II cp3 and TST gets mid 13's? How do you come up with that?

Lyn's 2003 runs a 13.54@98 at the 3 minute 28 second mark in this video:
http://www.firepunk.com/videos/downl...mcir081106.wmv

His truck has a DTT trans, TST PMCR, stock intake, and muffer delete. He added an EZ and took a few more tenths off later in the year. The TST is normally set on 5 sublevel 4.

That's it? I'm not aiming to discredit anyone, but it seems like a low amount of mods for such a quick time even with a built trans.

I've looked that truck over from top to bottom and helped him install the TST and play with the transmission. One thing I did forget was the BD RAD box. He launches at 15psi and needed it to disable torque management. DOH! The DTT took a full second off his 1/4 times. There is a lockup switch used after the truck shifts into second. Lyn's a DTR member - I think his screen name is C'Ya.

The more I think about it the more I can see it happening. A trans can make all the difference. My buddy did a 15.2 in his 03 with a BDDL and a Predator Race module stack but that was an unboosted 2wd launch on the stock trans. Had he chosen a better stack and had a built trans I'm sure he could have done a heck of a lot better.

When you guys say "built trans" are you referring to upgrading the torque converter and valvebody, or literally getting and entirely new transmission?

In my case I did a custom 3 disc TC and complete transmission rebuild with all billet shafts and most of the internals. The same as some of the stage V transmission replacements and more.

With the TC/Trans upgrade alone I was able to lower my ETs by a full second. That was going from 2wd low boost launches to 4wd high boost launches and using a manual TC lockup switch.

Yeah i've been after my buddy for a while to upgrade his TC and VB but he thought his workman's comp settlement would be better spent in a strip club. Close to 10k out of 14k he dropped on dope snorters.

Bet he looked like the man in the strip club though...too bad he has nothing to show for it but maybe some STDs.
