how about with an automatic?? in 4x4?

a friend of mine has a 215 pump with plate in a 4x4 dodge automatic.

he builds all the boost the stock turbo will make, and then he lets off the brakes!

my quest: how much will the tranny...(upgraded) and the front axle (4x4) support?

how much boost is safe?

U mean to tell me

that your friend launches over 20 psi? i dont see how the heck one that the brakes hold all that TQ and power, and two how he dont break all four loose when he does that..

Ur answer, not much longer if he keeps up with that, i would imagine from readin on here that anything over 20 is gonna break parts in a hurry. I know Gunracer1 has burnt out all six on his dually at 45 psi off a launch..

I launch around 20+psi boost in 4wd. Try to get a little higher, but the torque management system in the ECM on my 04.5 will start to shut things down if I get much over that. I have complete billet built transmission and low stall triple disc TC. Most guys racing with auto 4wds launch with quite a bit of boost.

I use to launch at 20 -25 psi for 1.6 60 foots but with the set-up I'm running now it will spin all 4 at anything past 18 psi or so until I get drag radials for all 4 corners. I can pull low 1.7s with 15 pound launches and still run high 12s. For bracket racing I shoot for around 8 to 10 pounds on the launch and run consistent 13.10 to 13.20 depending on the weather.
