How Bout This Test?

This will certainly sound cheesy to some, but it can be done by most without doing any damage or getting you into serious trouble. Find the appropriate place where you can do this without getting in trouble, and .....Do a timed run from 20-70mph without the aid of your fueling box, propane, nitrous, whatever. Now (as in my case) turn on the box, do a 2nd. run on the same stretch, and post both times. Might also be a good thing to state stuff like altitude, if you are tugging a load, hauling boulders, what trans, diff. gears, etc.
I use the 20-70 in an attempt to save the drivetrain on units that have not been beefed up (yet). I know some of the trucks listed on here can probably do this in their driveway, but I just thought it might be both fun and somewhat informative, along with being very do-able for those of us who don't have easy access to a dyno or dragstrip.
For reference:
MP 04.5 4X4 48RE 3.73 650 ft. ASL 10.1sec.(box off) 7.11sec.(box on)
box is TS Ramifier, bout 300#s total wt. on bed
Let's hear some.
Mike

is this supposed to be when the rear tires hit this speed or when the fronts catch up with the rears?

Well, I can tell you right now my 20-70mph time will not be too good, as my turbo doesn't like spooling rolling in 1st or 2nd gear. I can time a 0-70mph w/ launch in 4wd and compare to your guys, haha.

MICMAZE,
LOL....had'nt concidered that some of you might be in the throws of uncontrollable wheelspin. I guess you could do this in 4WD or just launch from a standstill.
Hey, it is just for fun, and think how stupid I'm gonna feel when my time stands up as the SLOWEST one posted.

John,
That sounds like a good idea, or just launch from zero and hit the stopwatch as the needle passes by 20mph. In your case, it sounds like we have to even come up with a correction factor for "speedo needle flex"! Probably gonna need a crew man to work the watch while you are busy trying to keep your truck pointed in the proper direction, but Hey....you can probably use the extra weight for traction!

Nah, my truck is slow and barely gets any spin on the 37's, unless I launch at 30+ psi (weee).

On my stock turbo with the TST-twins set at 9x9 and ramifier at 50%, powerbraking, so much fuel would flow that the stock turbo would spool to 40psi before torque management came on. I launched at 35psi once to see what it would be like (half-expecting a very important part of the transmission to leave at warp-speed) but got nothing but 20-30' of wheelspin. Was pretty cool. Can't do that with the larger single, doesn't spool fast enough.

Come on People!
I just returned from Barbados where our daughter got married and I was wondering while there (just can't get the Rams out of my head, no matter where I am), just how many entries there would be with their times, and there isn't a single one other than mine!? What the heck? I guess that makes me the fastest!

I will try it tomorrow with the old 12v coming home from school if i remember to(and i usually can remember stuff like this ). This is an interseting test, and makes it better for the 5/6spd guys, as they should be in 3rd or so by 20mph. We will see how the 12v stacks up with only a plate, and GSK.

Right around 7.5 seconds from 20-70mph.

My G-Tech tells me 0-60 is just over 5 sec. to do a 20 -70 run I would have to get out of the city and that is at least a 2 hour drive from where I am. I will try it if I can find an open area.

Around 6 seconds or so. May be as high as 6.5 but I think a little under 6.

Bruce,
I am pleased that some of you are willing to do this. I would very much like to understand what some of the stuff in your signiture is. I DO understand 579HP. That is strong!
Got a question on the G-Tech. I have one, but as I remember in the setup, they say we are supposed to calibrate it at 4000 rpm. What do we do there? Any info you can give me would be much appreciated. Thanks, Mike
