Question First pull with 5 spd, advice please!

Last year I did my first pull ever at the marshfield fair, with the auto, and the tranny kinda crapped out on the drive up there (racing a LS430 on the highway....d'oh) so it shifted into o/d upon anything over 3/4 throttle, any gear selection. So I lost traction early (4-low), ended up pulling 266, street diesel class, not sure of the weight, full operating sled though.

This year I'd like to do a few more, now that I have the 5 spd. Truck is mostly stock, a few upgrades, I'd be surprised to see 300 at the rear wheels. Any tips on rolling out with the manual? Can't build boost against the t/c, so I'm thinking laying it out in 3rd maybe? Not sure if I should try 4th. It started out real easy last year, running 33x12.5x16.5 Kumho Road venture a/t's, similar to BFG mud terrains. Tire pressure was a little high, around 25 pounds, and like I said minimal power upgrades. 100 plate, wastegate set to around 32psi, 3k gsk, timing is at 16.5. If I get in good with the wife I might have a set of injectors by then, not sure which. Open to all advice! Thanks!

I would pull in Low 3rd or Hi 1st depending on the track. If it was a dusty track Low 3rd, tacky in Hi 1st. My clutch was the limiting factor.

You should really pull in High-1st, be easy on your clutch...
