Finally had my first pull
Finally had my first pull
Well I just wanted to say thanks to Justin for helpin me, I learned alot about it from posts and vids.
I hooked at Raymondville, Mo last sat and had a blast. I was put in the 3.0
since SMS doesnt have a 2.8 class.
So I pulled 220 sumthin feet and the video (Travis?) is pending.
I had no track bars,
smarty was only on 7 since I left the dang thing at home,
tires in front were at 35 psi (shouldve went lower) rears at 55,
mp8 was cranked
didnt spool it enough(I got nervous and im sure my little baby revs sounded retarded and only went to about 3 grand i think but the 3850 DD had only 70miles on it since the rebuild and I didnt wanna wreck it.
track was tight but smooth, rained early in the day,
I pulled 4th gear 4 low
They allowed weight and I had no rack (yet) so I weighed in at 7600 and everybody else weighed in at 8500.
Now I need a rack, vlv springs, tnt/R, bars, and possibly move the hitch point(not sure how on a sht bed)
I'll post some pics and video when I get them. John from Floor It was there with a truck along with all the Show-Me Smokers guys and my wife and kids and we all had a good time.
Thanks to Corey for gettin my iPhone back after I lost it in the grass while pullin my blocks out.
And thanks to Kman for loanin me his hitch since I didnt have mine done yet.
Thanks to my patient wife who watched
the whole time.

I'll keep that in mind. Completly "hooked"!!!
Diesel prices may limit my pulls this year but there are 2 more this year hear in marshfield I will deffinatly be attending.
Then there is always the Blackout event in Rogersville and I heard there may be a pull close that night. Well see.

why lower in the rear on harder tracks and higher for loose tracks...i would think its the opposite
Higher pressure=bounce easier (think basketball) on hard surface.
With a looser track I will say it could be argued that a lower pressure tire will provide more traction but at the cost of hitch height from lower pressure.
So I air them (rears) up and keep the hitch height.

Yeah tristan looks like I need to do a little renforcing on my hitch it is a little bent not much maybe a 1/4 of an inch. It's held quite a few pulls now and you can't beat a free hitch. You could probably get more feet with running a little bit higher gear and building a hitch for your truck that will actually is 26inches. I was running 2nd on the high side no problem. I need to drop my pressure though I was running way to much.
the first time I pulled I got about the same distance. you can build a hitch easier than trying to build one thats further up on the frame from what ive seen. the next time im sure you will get further.
Well I hope to have the hitch, hitch point moved up, bars, weight rack, hoops, etc all done before the next pull and hopefully that will net me some gain. I might have wrecked a bearing on my A5k though. Somethins makin a noise at higher rpm that dont sound good.
Not a bad idea. I think I can guess mine is low without the springs and 4000rpm TNT but it would be nice to see first hand. Im not a fancy kinda guy so I dont mind the ol white letters a showin.
