Drag truck.. 2WD or 4WD

Looking at building a drag truck, what is the best combo..

2500 or 3500 SRW? and 2WD or 4WD?

Thanks..

For the lightest weight I'd go 2wd. 4wd's have better traction off the line but give up a lot to a 2wd on the top end due to wind drag, weight, and parasitic drivetrain loss. I also think we might see tougher rules on the 4wd's soon. Crankshaft centerline height is a concern for many. Just my deflated .02

4X4! I don't think you give up much to a 2wd on top end. More than make up for it on a boosted 4x4 launch.

when you say drag truck do you mean your going to build a dedicated 1/4 mile rig like a pro-street truck or something? or a DD that your going to take to the track on weekends. If its a dedicated race rig then I'd go 2500 2wd, if it was a DD with some track fun on the weekends i go with a 2500 4x4, Just my opinion.

Weight is key in racing, if its a dedicated track toy go 2wd for sure and maybe a dually to ease getting a big enough slick under it. Mine is in a 1/2 ton and fully tubbed, but good luck getting that 3/4 or 1 ton down under 3800 lbs like this 1/2 ton. Good luck

full time drag truck, not a DD or road truck period.

perhaps chop up a 1500 Ram with an ISB in it... that would save some weight

I agree with the above. 2wd would be cheaper i would think. 4x4 boosted launches are cool. But so are pulling the wheels.
Take a 1500 and drop a cummins in it or take a 2500 gut it.

The quickest/fastest in the country right now is a back-halved 2wd 2500 with a shortbed on it.
