Cris S.(masonic dodge) gets in the 12's!

Tonight at "Coastal Plains Dragway" in Jacksonville, N.C., Cris Sonnichsen (AKA: masonic-dodge) FINALLY got his 2005 Dodge CTD CR, Auto into the 12's!! CONGRATULATIONS Cris! Several N.C. DTR Members were there to witness this including myself, John Jr. (banshee), Chris Dubie (Papa Smurf) and Nate Eix (Shakin Red CTD). What helped Cris get there was a "Smarty Programmer" "loaned" to Cris from a soon to be new DTR Member, namely, Chris Holman. Thanks for letting Cris try the programmer Chris! I know he appreciated it.

Cris made two passes with his truck and listed below are the times from his run slips:

Run #1:

Reaction: .802
60 ft. : 1.81
330 ft. : 5.17
1/8 E.T.: 8.03
1/8 MPH: 85.20
1/4 E.T.: 12.65
1/4 MPH: 104.88

Run #2:

Reaction: .713
60 ft. : 1.95
330 ft. : 5.35
1/8 E.T. : 8.22
1/8 MPH : 84.90
1/4 E.T. : 12.86
1/4 MPH : 105.12

Later in the evening, Cris was gracious enough to let me drive his truck to see what I could do with it. Thanks Cris! Since my son Johnner (banshee) was there, we decided to run "heads-up" against each other! The last time he and I had done this was when I ran against Johnner in my 2002 Dodge CTD 24 valve and he beat me by over three truck lengths after KILLING me at the staging lights! As I recall, he cut about a .515 reaction and I was "asleep" going somewhere in the high 7's, around a .750 or so. Tonight, I decided I would really be ready and concentrated hard on the lights during staging. In short I won, but not by much! Johnner was definitely "reeling me in" at the end of the 1/4 mile! Thanks for the race Johnner! Listed below are the times from our race:

John_P Johnner (banshee)

Reaction: .544 .855
60 ft. : 1.72 1.84
330 ft. : 5.08 5.35
1/8 E.T.: 7.97 8.23
1/8 MPH: 83.51 85.07
1/4 E.T.: 12.65 12.85
1/4 MPH: 104.37 107.20

Chris Dubie (Papa Smurf) also "backed up" his times in his wife's 2004 Dodge CTD CR Dually Automatic by posting some more 13.90 runs! Good job Chris! He almost beat a 2005 Pontiac GTO!!

Anyway, as usual the N.C. DTR Crew had a great time as we usually do anytime we get together! My thanks again to Cris S. for letting me drive his truck! Cris, that truck runs great! You need to buy a Smarty!

To the entire crew....Keep blowin smoke...you guys are tearing up the coastal plains. I thought I saw a tear in John_P's eye after running that very impressive 12.65. I could see his smile well beyond the 1/4 mile mark.

Cris, Chris and Chris.....glad to meet n see all you guys, That dually is an insane BEAST, especially that 4,000# bumper and the stacks. Congrats Cris on the times....get that smarty and lets see some 11's soon!

Johnner, Thanks for looking at the truck and reassuring me I am an obsessive compulsive when it comes to noises....

LJTyre:

If you will P.M. me your telephone number, we will be sure to try and call you the next time we go! Sometimes it really is a "last minute' deal.

Nate:

No tears in my eyes tonight! But,.....I will admit I had a pretty big grin on my face during that 1/4 mile run though! Cris' truck had massive "bottom end" power with that "Smarty" loaded up!

Congratulations!! I know exactly how you feel I have been in the low 13s for about a year until two weeks ago and that was also my SMARTY that did it.

Feels really, really good. That 12 number just sounds so much faster doen't it?

John,

I was AMAZED to see that truck launch. Looked like a mid-80's Knight Rider Turbo Boost scene. Fast fast fast.........And knowing Johnner is fast made it look that much better. I am definately getting a smarty! But I want it for pulling/in town.

What mods did the truck have on it besides the Smarty?

I can't wait till I get to the track with the Smarty. Hopefully we don't get rained out tonight and I can try it.

Awesome numbers!!

My truck has a HTT 64/12, DTT Tranny, TST, MP8, Water-Meth. The TST was on 2/1 and the MP8 was turned on maybe a little less then 1/5 of the way up (very little)

The funny thing was that the truck didn't feel any faster then it has in the past, but when I pulled around for my time slip the girl asked me if I had a helmet so I knew that I made it into the 12s but I never thought it was a 12.65

Wat to go CHRIS!
Man I wish we were closer to y'all down there. Maybe we can get together before the cold sets in. I think Virginia Motorsports Park has the East Coast Truckin Nationals up here in Diniwiddie next month.

my smarty should be here when I get home today. Cant wait to stack it with the quad race and ruin my clutch the rest of the way. once the clutch is done it, she'll(boss) will have no choice but to give in to the gods of bombing again and authorize purchase of the south bend.

I love my FE. I cant use the available HP I have on tap, but it is enough to get me in trouble on the street.
Heck after a wek of having the truck running I blew the turbine wheel out the exhaust pipe....but the clutch still held. LOL

Thumbs up Hey Guy's

Hey guy's, well here I am... The "Chris" with the SMARTY (new member to DTR CHolman on TDR if you want to see pics of my truck) I was more than happy to let cris use my SMARTY glad that he broke that 13 second barrier. I was happy for him and Banshee, I would have let you run your truck with the SMARTY if you would have wanted too... I tell you this, I was so hiped over last night I was wound up tighter than a $2 pocket watch. I was disappointed with my times, but my truck is "HEAVY"!!! compared to ya'll.
