2007 CTD vs 2003 V6 Accord

Alright, not sure if this is the correct place to post this, but I have a friend that believes a 2003 V6 Accord will beat my stock 2007 CTD in a drag. Any thoughts?

I think if I 4x4 launch I can take it.....

I think u will get your butt handed too you.

This is not a machine built for speed.

I've driven a few accords and they seemed to have quite a bit of punch off the line..

Try it and see what happens.....

Let us know, take some pics

Yeah I have never driven or been in an 03 Accord V6... so I don't have a clue what they have... I have only driven the older 4 cylinders...
We will wait until it is warmer and dryer outside... so spring time probably... just wanted to get some thoughts.. maybe by then I will at least have an intake on mine...
Obviously CTD's aren't built for speed stock, but I thought it would be fun anyway....

The V-6 Accord will be slightly slower than my 2003 Acura 3.2TL-S. Published data for the Acura shows a stock quarter mile time of around 14.7 to 14.8 seconds @ 100 MPH with a 145 (Car and Driver) to 150 (Road & Track) MPH top speed.

??? My toyota avalon, V6, will do 0-60 in 6.0 seconds. These mid size japanese cars are evolving into sport oriented performance cars.

x2. The wife's 05 Nissan Maxima does it about that fast, too.

Were I the Accord owner, I would pick a road with some curves in it just to make things interesting.

Invite the Accord onto a gravel road . No chance for the Accord. Take of controlled and you are behind. Take off full bore and you spin out. CTD in 4x4 will launch like a rocket.

remember that those 1/4 mile times for that acura from road & track and car and driver magazines were acomplished by their drivers. many times manufactures let those magazine drag drivers test their cars before they release them due to the fact that the magazine drivers can usually post faster times than most anyone else. a v-6 accord will spin a front tire very easily, so if this guy isn't that hot a driver, and his car is a manual (which i doubt) you might have a chance. that being said, i used to have a acura legend coupe with which i bested several diesel trucks.

If it's a V-6 6-speed accord, which it probably is if he's challanging you to a race, it's quite the sleeper of a car. 5-double spoke 17" rims, a red insert V-6 badge, the six-speed stick and some carbon fiber trim are all the "visable" changes...but 240bhp and 5.6 second 0-60 (stock) if he can handle the abrupt, edgy clutch smoothly. Actually quite the nice all-around car. Not really a drag racer, but far quicker than most people realize, yet as calm and mild mannered as anyone could ask, save for the abrupt clutch action.

No one challenged anyone to a race, yet.... this all just came up in conversation, someone talking about how slow diesels are. I told him I think I had a chance against the Accord. The car is actually owned and driven by a female, not that it matters, and it is an automatic.

I've driven the newer Accords, and the only way you would finish within 5 lengths is if she is putting make up on instead of paying attention to the start.
