Cab / Roof Lights

So I've decided I want to add clearence / marker lights on the top of my cab. I'm probably going to purchase the lights w/ complete wire harness from LMC.

When I pull the headliner from my cab, will there be indentions or markes as to where to drill? Or do I need some kind os templet?

I cant remember if there is a premarker spot or not. on a past truck I just spaced out the lights on top using tape held them in place where I wanted them and then drilled. when you do this no matter what hard wire them all together kits come with the plug and play crap for the price you may want to look into Recon lights they also have the oem color as well smoked etc. when I wired my older truck I wired my power wire into the same as my dimmer wire. I did this because for some reason with the old cab over camper I had I would have a bad reflection at night that would come down. so the dimmer thing worked. get some rubber o-rings some kits come with just plastic washer. you may even want to put a dab of silicone just under the head of the screw if you use clear you wont tell just a little better water profing.

good luck

Just pull the headliner down, there are mounting holes already laid out for you in the frame (same cab frame for 1 ton and 3/4 ton trucks) to drill from the inside. You just need the hole saw. Initially my guys sucked up a bit drilling the first of 15 holes in a none leaking roof. Its well worth it, the smoked led lights on my truck look cool (at least I think so, the wife looks at me kinda funny and just walks away, she's doing that more and more as the UPS truck makes its regular drops at our place).

This write up was not done by me, but I have kept it for when I do my clearance light install. Very informative and helpful...

i wouldn't recomend wireing them in to the dimmer wire on the headlight switch the wire is only like an 18 or 20 gauge wire. thats just asking for trouble even with the LEDS

you can buy the OEM lights with the wiring for pretty reasonable $$$. It will come with a template that you tape to the roof and then it has the correct drill bit sizes on the template!!! Very easy to do, but the headliner is kind of difficult to get out of the cab, so be careful not not bend or crease it!!! the kit was like 70-80 dollars from the dealer, no joke! I would go that route before guessing on the locations of the lights personally!

you mean when I installed a set years ago with my very accurate eyeball and thumb method I should have not have started to drink beer yet. but agree if I did have a template it would have saved alot of taping and measuring to get proper spacing. let us know how it turned out. if I didnt mention before get 0-rings for the screws you can double them up will help with water getting in. put some dialec-grease on your bulbs help with condensation in the long run. good luck

O ya and while I was at it, I also installed xm radio that hooks up to the back of my cd player and is hidden in the dash and I ran the antenna out behind the center cab light
