Buy back question
Have any of you gone through the process on a buy back? I went to the dealer today discussing options on my truck and he said that he had not seen a buy back or purchase assist in 5 years. I know this is a lie I am just curious as to what it will take to go through with a buy back. Under Tenn. Law I do qulify for the lemon law and I have two lawyers in the family so that end of things should be coverd. I did tell him that if the dealership felt that they would like to help me out on a deal I would trade with them. I am giving them a chance to make things right. I have plans of expanding my company so it will mean more business soon for them. If not I guess the local Chevy dealer will like me a lot.
The trade came back and the otd price will be 15,000
This is for the exact same truck I am in but hopefull it works. I only owe 3,000 on mine. Not much of a deal if you ask me. Just venting

I would recommend perusing the Lemmon Law. I haven't been through either personally, but after having read the threads where folks have done each, just seems like the Lemmon Law is more cut and dry (dealer does not get to negotiate) and folks make out a little better in the end. Then, you just go pick out your truck of choice, even if it is across the street. The buy backs (only know of two) seemed to turn out OK, but a lot more time consuming and arguing involved.
What's the problem with your truck?

Have you sent the lemon card in ( its in with your owners man. ) . If you have not , DO . This will get your problem fixed or you a new truck . You have to notify them after 4 failed service attempts . They then have 10 days to contact you and set up a 5th and final attempt to fix the problem . Only after you have done this , can you have a valid lemon law case . There should be no need for a lawyer because they now they will loose if you have followed proper procedure and given them 5 service attempts . If you have mods or they can blame you , GOOD LUCK !
I have multiple problems with multiple attempts. At this time the truck is sitting at the dealer with another leaking power steering pump. Pump has been replaced once and repaired/worked on 5+ times. this time the pump just puked all the fluid out in about 100 miles. I have also had several oil leaks currently oil leaking off the rear two driver side oil pan boltes and bell housing. I think I will go get the Lemon card out of the truck tomorrow and send it in.
Thanks Tom
Thanks Tom
I just had my power steering pump replaced due to pressure problems. Everything around it and under it looks "wet" now. I'm not sure if it's left over from the replacement or if the new one is leaking. I guess I'll have to try to clean it up and see if it comes back.

I am leaking power steering fluid also . I'm not sure where its coming from , can not locate it . Going to dealer tomorrow . I went through the lemon process all the way to the 5th. attempt before I finally got 6 new injectors . I special ordered my truck and noticed a miss on the second day of ownership that progressively got worse . I went through the usual bull with STAR and had the service manager lie to me twice ( that I know of ) . The 4th. service attempt they kept my truck for 6 days and only changed the fuel filter
. Thats when I sent in the lemon card certified mail .

jwtuc I feel your pain. I have been without my truck just this months about 12 days. Got my truck back today. Decided that the dealer in town is about 3 grand to hign if they are really tryingto help me. Not sure if i am going to Lemon it or let a dealer have it on trade. I am going to be upfront with Tommygun and see what he can do form me. I am also looking at a GMC. That is only abotu 100 miles from my house. Nice truck with a rubber floor. Hate to leave dodge really like the way my truck pulls just dont' want to fool with this dealer any more.

I don’t know if this will help or not.
I had a 2001 Chevy 2500 HD that I had to do a buy back on. I had all kind of suspension problems with it. It was in the shop a total of 45 days with the same problem. Never fixed. Ended up taking it back to the dealer that I bought it from and bought a Dodge. Luckily enough they also sold Dodge products. If you try to peruse the lemon law you will have to go through arbitration. This in itself isn’t that big of a deal, especially if you have documentation. If you can prove it is a safety issue that you have tried to correct 3 times or more then you should have no trouble.
Here is the truck that I had:
Hope this helps some.

Not sure if any problems I have had are considerd a safety issue unless you consider slipping on an oil of PS flud spot on the drive way
. I know all brands make good and bad vehicles. I have also had a Ford that spent a lot of time in the shop. I think I got a not as bad as it could be but i personally need better vehicle. My dealer in not great and they are the only one I really have time to take it to.

There are 4 other dealerships in my area that I have not tried . I went today to a different dealership for the power steering fluid leak that I have been unable to locate . They could not find it either . They just topped off the fill tank
. I had found a code by cycling the key that I asked to be checked . The service manager said nothing showed on their Tool . He then proceded to say that the key cycling method is not used any longer on the newer trucks
. Funny how last time my check engine light came on I checked and their were three codes , and after a trip to the dealer , upon leaving , I checked and their was nothing . Seems like it works to me !

Well got my truck back yesterday with another new pump. Strange drove home today was cleaning on the truck and noticed the truck dripping on the driveway again.
I wish I had the time to take the truck to another dealer but no one I know has the time to run me to a dealer 30 minutes up the road. I guess I can go and see if one of them would like to trade with me. I think I need to get the truck to stop dripping on the ground before i do this.

VPI, i am seriously sorry to read of your troubles, but i think if you're not happy with this truck, you're going to be really unhappy with a GMC. i had to sue GM to get rid of my 8 month old 2004 sierra. everything on the truck was garbage, and in my opinion, my dodge is leaps and bounds better in every area. the new body style GM trucks are just cheap. mine spent more time in the shop than on the road, almost 60 days, 4 brake/steering interlocks, 2 transmissions, and much more! if i were you i'd handle it through DC, they are more likely to issue a replacement truck than a refund. ford guys do this every 6-8 months
at any rate, give dodge another chance.
