At this point in time with my old shocks stretched to almost the max on a fairly decent road.
I hunt for manhole covers, small potholes, & run them over. Im very impressed I can drink hot coffee.

speed bumps, nasty roads, pretty bouncy infact white knuckled at one time. I think if I get 4 or 5 guys to push up and down on the bumper we could get it to hop in the air

Truck sits 3.5'' at the bumpstop.

Hmmm, thats what i found with my alcans. The small bumps are very smooth but the big ones are still rather bouncy.

Yours may partially be the shocks topping out though too.

I don't think i have 3.5" at the bumpstop though, more like 2.5 maybe? I will have to look at my other posts or measure tonight.

In reference to you last post (bouncy)

Could I get you to post your shock bolt spacing wheels on the ground.

Mine is 21'' Im thinking my shocks (542) are to short.

Im thinking the piston should be more centered (552)

For front or back?

Back i am at 23", or was when i put it together. I can verify again though.

Now that i say that it was more, i recall i couldnt even get the 542 on. My springs may have sagged some though.

front ~19.5, its on an angle and one side was 19.25 other side 20.25. About 2.5" or so between spring and rubber stop (this depends alot on spring pack thickness).

rear~24

How many miles on the front springs? They may sag alittle yet.

I would wait before changing shocks yet.

You could build a short shock extension to test it out, wouldnt be too hard.

I got them from 4 wheel parts with a 30day no fit No mount exchange. return policy

my rears do not fit. so they got to back. Im also thinking about getting the (552) their about a inch and a half more travel centering the piston.

5''
piston (552)
5''

6''
piston (542)
3''

those are ruff measurements with my bolts at 21'' ( also I could very much be completely wrong)

now that I think about it I should just get the procomps (80$ a pair) let the springs settle then take a measurement at 5000 miles

I don't think they need to be centered, with leafs springs there is usually more droop than compression. These trucks in particular dont have alot of actual suspension movement, springs are heavy for the weight of the motor.

BILIT:

I got the Bilsteins also....Was it hard for you to be able to get them to fit with the grease and a hammer? or did they go on pretty easy once you greased and pounded? I am debating on whether to return the shocks or just pound them on like you said

I also put the springs on from customsuspension.com...So far I like them..Been 4 months. With the 255/85 tires it rides much better than stock...Can actually drink a coffee while driving.

I sent the bilsteins back they do not fit right.. They DO NOT make a 11/16 bushing

Got the skyhacher M95 mono tube they fit like they should. 11/16 inch bushings

Bushings should fit Like the Boots on your feet Not tight not loose.

The shock mounts on the the dodge truck are 11/16 NOT 5/8
