Big Rigs Talk about other Cummins powered vehicles here. As a matter of fact, it doesn't even have to be Cummins, but it will be diesel! :)

Problems with the Cummins ECMs-Figuring out how many?

We are beginning to see lots of older Cummins ECMs in our shop for repair. In trying to get a handle on "how many of them are there like this?" (ECM part numbers 3096662, 3408300, 3408303, 3084473, 3618046 and 3619037) we couldn't easily get an "about this many" answer. Did the rash of these failures start from day 1 or are there just so many of these models out there that is a numbers game? Our shop has only been around for a few years. The only number we cam up with is 3-5M trucks on the road in the US? It seems like they figure "it" (the problem) out as we do not see too many new ones.....

Thanks

BW

Had the ECM fry on our ISX, a week after we bought the truck with 386k on it 3yrs ago. Blew all of the engine related fuses. Never welded on it either................
