Big Rigs Talk about other Cummins powered vehicles here. As a matter of fact, it doesn't even have to be Cummins, but it will be diesel! :)

EGR stuff

is there anyway to get rid of the EGR system off a 60 series.
Also does anyone know how hard it is to swap in a Cummins into a Freightliner. Looking at a rebuilt Cummins N11 or N14. Just curious as to if it will work, what is needed such as wiring etc

block off plates is really it. on the manifold. pull the bellows pipe. and the egr elbow off the manifold. and bolt a plate in place of the elbow. block off the intake side with something. probably pull the crossover tube. and weld a cap onto the intake pipe to seal the boost.

then you need to talk to one particular guy in grand prarie to "fix" the ECM. and he can write you any power level you want at the same time. and i don't mean stock ratings. I mean whatever you want.

Hmm the Boss is looking at swaping a N14 into his truck, it is going to be around the $20,000 mark all said and done.

The 60 is an EGR set up and has had all new parts for the egr/ fuel system but it is still acting up, plus it has the coolant issue.

He is looking at either rebuilding the 60 or swapping in the N14. If we can get rid of the EGR off the 60 then maybe it would be the way to go.
You have a specific contact for this ECM god in GP? or a ball park figure in price.

This is a good idea because we can then taylor the program for what we do.

I have ask this ? in other parts of this site but with only some info.. So I'll ask it here also. I have a 2009 motor home with a 340hp ISB Cummins engine. The ? is can I get rid of the EGR system without doing any damage and how do I get around throwing a code or going into limp mode? It does not have DEF system.

you should check these guys out: http://www.pdidiesel.com/index.html

They did an egr delete for my stepdads 06 60 series Detroit, it was factory rated at 350 hp, and dynoed at 595 hp after the delete. It came with a new intake and exhaust manifold, turbo, and ecm remapping. plus it had zero effect on fuel efficiency. I would easily recommend these guys to anyone
