Big Rigs Talk about other Cummins powered vehicles here. As a matter of fact, it doesn't even have to be Cummins, but it will be diesel! :)

CAT 3208 NA with aftermarket turbo

I'm looking at an RV that has a 3208 cat with an aftermarket turbo added. I know later 3208's were turbo'd but this is the NA version (2 piston rings, no cooling jets). This add-on turbo seems to generate 4-5 lbs of boost. Anybody know anything about these add-on's (seemed to be real popular in early 80's before CAT offered the 3208t's). Just wondering if this will stress this motor out too much or if the low amount of boost is safe. FYI here is a picture of the install..

FYI the bags are down in this picture so the physical install is fine (it's way up out of the way when driving)

I dont think the engine would be a issue, it looks like knocking it off the bottom would worry me. also how are they draining the oil back to the pan?

There are supply/return lines running to/from the block. The picture looks strange but seeing it in person (with the bags aired up) I'm not worried about where it is....if I buy it I'll build a skid plate just for piece of mind but honestly it's made it 30yrs under there
