Big Rigs Talk about other Cummins powered vehicles here. As a matter of fact, it doesn't even have to be Cummins, but it will be diesel! :)

Our FD has a 5 ton that hauls 3,000 gallons of water. I feel the same way as you everytime I have to drive it, so most of the time I refuse to. Thankfully no wrecks yet though.

Ok, 5 TONS @ 2000lbs = 10,000 lbs

3k GALLONS @ 8.35 lbs = 25,050 lbs

Who did their math? I would call OSHA about that. Yes, it would **** them off BUT your job is to help someone, not cause a wreck. Heck, we have a 3k gallon tanker on a Internationl Chassis. Looks kinda like this one:

Specs:

International 4400
DT570 330HP Diesel

Someone went cheap...

I think the military under-rates the trucks so enlistied can drive with just a regular license. Not sure on that, though. Tag on the truck is 25999gvw, but shoot, it weighs 20000 empty, sans 5th wheel and all. Has been reliable and is all I could afford for an AWD work truck. Just take it slow and steady and travel when traffic is light. It will lock the tires up if I stab the pedal, I just worry about losing air or hydraulic pressure....

Edit--when I dropped the 11k service body on the back, it squatted 3/4'', so the chassis is up to the task to bad about the non-turbo 855 cummins though....

Not to be too picky but the picture of the fuel truck is a truck and tri-axle pup.

I called them Push and Wonder brakes. Push the pedal and wonder if they are gonna work. Probably the worst setup I have ever worked-on two systems to do the same function.

I have an accident pic from my work. It's not a truck or car but a train that collided with another. The switching crew ran their engine into the side of a moving unit coal train. Someone left a switch aligned to the wrong track and thats how they collided. It tore up the side of the locmotive pretty good but worse damage was done to the coal cars. This happened a few years ago.

Sorry for the bad picture quality.
