Big Rigs Talk about other Cummins powered vehicles here. As a matter of fact, it doesn't even have to be Cummins, but it will be diesel! :)

Call Cat with the engine s/n, they should tell you what it's rated at and how much power the hardware can handle. If it's electronic they should be able to turn it up to the highest output it can handle too. I don't think they were ever known as a real powerhouse.

Cat probably won't offer much. I heard the TS power box works pretty good.

Agreed.....if it's an electronic engine (and i'm confident that it is) then CAT won't be of any help. IF.......and it's a big IF......you can find a CAT tech that has access to the codes to turn up the fueling you better pay him/her a nice sum of money!!!!!! Other than that, TS is probably your best option, as was previously stated.

Both 98' 3126 Cats we owned blew at barely over 200 hrs in stock mode. Hopefully you have better luck!

the 3126's were a different (read HEUI system from the 7.3 powerjoke) fuel system but not that different than the 3116's in terms of the bottom end, but at 6.6 or 7.2L of displacement you will be hard pressed to get any real power out of them to drag around something that big, I know what my uncles 3 horse angle haul weighs and its silly. GOOD LUCK, I like my cats but you'll need it haha

You can run it up to 300 hp / 800lb ft. I have units run 200k mikes hard at this rating that held together well (injectors suffered for ULSD however). These were the last iteration of 3126 (2002) before the release of the c7. These 3126 had some improvements to the HUEI.

I've heard some people getting the fire / rev 330hp rating for 3126 and using in volcational applications. Probably not worth risking it.
